Build – with Frugal Metal Embellishments Featuring Graphic 45 In my house, there always seems to be bits of metal laying around – such as screws, bolts, washers and various other whatnots – picked up from who knows where and brought home because you never know when you might need it. LOL. I was tidying up one day and the metal washers caught my eye as a potential embellishment because they are flat and lightweight. I repurposed most of the washers on this layout from my husband’s stash, but they are also very inexpensive to purchase at a hardware store, usually about 15 cents each depending upon the size. The Typography collection from Graphic 45 was perfect for this layout. It is simply gorgeous. I used my favourite chalk ink in ‘Blackbird’ and a foam applicator by Clearsnap to smudge the edges of the layout in black and give…

I am a big fan of “fussy cutting” and paper layering so the Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock was the perfect choice for this project. I created texture on the papers with the Sizzix template and then sanded the paper to really make the pattern stand out. I love sanding the papers and the seeing the two-tone effect because it adds a rustic, roughness that is perfect for scrapbooking my boys. SUPPLIES: Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock, graphic 45 patterned paper, chipboard and alphabet stickers, Sizzix dies and embossing folder, May Arts Ribbon, Gesso, Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Liquid glue. Thanks for looking
Hello everyone – Christy Riopel here! I love Core’dinations ColorCore pre-embossed cardstock. It makes a great base for a mixed media technique page. I started by dry brushing gesso over the entire surface of the teal paper. Don’t add water as that may lessen the embossing a bit. I then added Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink to the raised surfaces by directly rubbing the ink pad on them. I love the how antique the finished look is. I used Core’dinations ColorCore die cuts on the page as some of the many layers I have under my photo. Supply list: Core’dinations ColorCore paper and die cuts, May Arts Ribbon, paper doily, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink, Marvy pen, Beacon Adhesive, Photo by Allison Orthner. Have a wonderful Monday everyone! To see more of Christy’s work – visit her blog – Creating a Life I Love to Share
Every great scrapbook layout and card needs a solid foundation, and that is where Core’dinations™ card stock comes in. Their booth at CHA was jam-packed with tons of card stock possibilities and more! Their sign says it all… I was VERY excited about their “Chalk Core” card stock. There are 2 options: black exterior and white core, or black exterior and different coloured cores. SO COOL! There are 5 colour options: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Orange. They come in smaller folded card sizes too! So when you emboss and/or sand to expose the core, you achieve that fun chalkboard effect… Totally love the distressed style you can create with Core’dinations Colorcore card stock! Also on display was designer David Tutera’s “Celebrate” card making system: These sets incorporate 3 steps for card design: 1. Select a card 2. Add a layer 3. Embellish How easy is this? And just look…

I know there are many of us in love with the gorgeous styles of stamps, dies and papers designed by Heartfelt Creations. Their booth at CHA was sooo beautiful! I think this paper crafted dress form captures the essence of this wonderful company! Their floral dies are…well…to “die” for. This is evident on all their projects on display. Their newly released “Majestic Morning” collection includes a paper pack, dies and stamps. It’s gorgeous! All collections on display are stunning, actually. You can use Heartfelt Creations products to design scrapbook layouts and paper crafts too! Isn’t this birdhouse fabulous? Seeing this wall of layouts in their booth was inspirational. This layout is one of my favourites! How elegant! Valentines and Easter projects were also on display.
