Hello everyone – Desiree Saskiw here on the blog today! This was my first crack at a mixed media project! As I dug through my supplies looking for products to use I came across the Spellbinders shapeabilites “Sweet Treats” diecut template as well as the Heartfelt Creations “Sun Kissed Fleur” custom design template. I then grabbed the matching Heartfelt Creations “Sun Kissed Collection” paper pack and set to work! I was very pleased with the flowers that I got from the die cut template and how they added great dimension to my piece. I also lovedΒ theΒ Spellbinders lemonade cup, which givesΒ subtle tribute to my friends innate ability to turn “lemons in to lemonade!” My friend in the photograph is soon turning 40 so I figured that instead of giving her a bunch of flowers that will wither and die, why not create a scrapbooked, lasting bouquet! Thanks for looking…

Sizzix Frameworks Lattice Die Also featuring Garden Tool Sizzlits, Lil MonstersΒ  by Bo Bunny and Xyron Have you seen the new Frameworks dies from Sizzix?Β Β  Designed by Tim Holtz, they were just released last month in five fabulous patterns.Β  I am especially excited that they are the thick steel rule dies, meaning that in addition to cutting through paper, Β they can also easily cut through all fabric, foam, felt, wood veneer and other non-paper items, giving the frugal or mixed media scrapbooker lots of flexibility! Β Β And you can use the framework die cut itself, or the pieces cut out of the framework die (like the diamonds or hexagons) to mix and match. The Lattice Frameworks remindedΒ  of gardening, so I thought I would combine it with the Garden Tools Sizzlits that I had in my stash. I cut the tools out of a scrap piece of cardstock and then used…

I treat myself every month to a monthly kit from Scrap Shotz, an online store based in Calgary, Alberta.Β  The kits are great value and areΒ  just loaded with all sorts of scrapbook goodies – patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments – lots of fun stuff that I might not necessarily purchase myself, but always goes together beautifully and is really fun to try.Β  It totally makes my day when the Scrapshotz box arrives in my super mail.Β  The kits are perfect for taking to a crop – they include everything you need except for adhesive! A kit from last fall featured Jillibean Soup’s Cold Avocado Soup line – patterned paper, sticker and die cut sheets, flash cards – along with plenty of other great supplies such as bling, Stickles and WeR Memory Keepers chevron washi tape.Β  The colours , rich blue, yellow and teal, in the Avocado Soup line are just…

Build – with Frugal Metal Embellishments Featuring Graphic 45 In my house, there always seems to be bits of metal laying around – such as screws, bolts, washers and various other whatnots – picked up from who knows where and brought home because you never know when you might need it. Β LOL.Β  Β I was tidying up one day and the metal washers caught my eye as a potential embellishment because they are flat and lightweight.Β  I repurposed most of the washers on this layout from my husband’s stash, but they are also very inexpensive to purchase at a hardware store, usually about 15 cents each depending upon the size. The Typography collection from Graphic 45 was perfect for this layout.Β  It is simply gorgeous. I used my favourite chalk ink in β€˜Blackbird’ and a foam applicator by Clearsnap to smudge the edges of the layout in black and give…

LOVE LOVE LOVE this layout Jodi Wilton created featuring Fancy Pants Designs!Β  Take a minute and read the journaling! SUPPLIES: Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper, chipboard, stickers, cork and tags, American Crafts chipboard alphabet, Jillibean Soup stickers, Doodlebug Design twine, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Singer sewing machine, unknown thread. Happy Scrappin

I am a big fan of β€œfussy cutting” and paper layering so the Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock was the perfect choice for this project. I created texture on the papers with the Sizzix template and then sanded the paper to really make the pattern stand out. I love sanding the papers and the seeing the two-tone effect because it adds a rustic, roughness that is perfect for scrapbooking my boys. SUPPLIES: Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock, graphic 45 patterned paper, chipboard and alphabet stickers, Sizzix dies and embossing folder, May Arts Ribbon, Gesso, Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Liquid glue. Thanks for looking

Hello everyone – Christy Riopel here! I love Core’dinations ColorCore pre-embossed cardstock. It makes a great base for a mixed media technique page. I started by dry brushing gesso over the entire surface of the teal paper. Don’t add water as that may lessen the embossing a bit. I then added Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink to the raised surfaces by directly rubbing the ink pad on them. I love the how antique the finished look is. I used Core’dinations ColorCore die cuts on the page as some of the many layers I have under my photo. Supply list: Core’dinations ColorCoreΒ paper and die cuts, May Arts Ribbon, paper doily, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink, Marvy pen, Beacon Adhesive, Photo by Allison Orthner. Have a wonderful Monday everyone! To see more of Christy’s work – visit her blog – Creating a Life I Love to Share
