Technique Tasters Web Show #96 – Distress Crayons Stencilling Technique – is probably one of my favourite videos we videoed with Christy Riopel. Tuesday With the Team – Kim Gowdy

Hello! Kim here today, I love when I get to share what I’ve been up to on the blog. I’ve been having fun playing with Distress Oxide inks, I ordered an entire set after seeing them at Creativation 2017 in January. They are easy to layer, emboss and stamp with. The icing on the cake is the magic that happens when you add a spritz or two of water to the mix! Here is the fun Easter card I put together this past weekend. I used some of my favourite Ranger/Tim Holtz products and an alpha die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. My background was created by adding layers of Distress Oxide ink to water colour paper. I dried each layer with my heat gun before adding the next layer to keep the colours separate. I pounced a bit of the ink through a stencil for added interest as well as…

Creating a Background with Ranger Hey Creative Scrapbookers, Nicole here with you for Tuesday with the Team. Have you got your copy of the Spring Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine? This card was featured in the Technique Tasters column pages 66-67. Here, I have a more detailed look at how to create a dynamic background using Ranger Distress Crayons. Check out the steps below and get your Ranger Distress products ready. Brush a thin layer of Ranger’s White Gesso onto a 2 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of cream cardstock and set aside to dry. For the background layer prep a 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of watercolor paper. Spray with water to help the Distress Spray Stain to blend. Spray water over the distress spray stain again and heat dry. Add distress ink and blend. This gives the background a rich look. Flick water over the inked paper…

Kim here with my take on the February sketch. This is not my best work, but I had fun with this layout. I feel like I have been in a creative funk since January and am slowly coming off the couch back into my craft room! I am NOT a lover of winter and the darkness that comes with it! Working with a sunset picture seemed a good choice! I just let myself play and put ZERO pressure on the results. I added a thin layer of Dina Wakley Media Gesso to my CSM Superstock and then “messy” coloured my circles with Distress Crayons. Once my colour was on my page, I used a water brush to blend it and even it out. My spiral line and writing was done with a Dylusions Paint Pen – I LOVE THESE!!!!! What do you get when you give three designers – the exact same products from the MultiCraft Forever in Time collection? You get three completely different looks! I LOVE IT! Each designer started out with a variety of products from the MultiCraft Forever in Time collection including the following Chalk Classic paper pad Champagne bling sticker sheet Two sets of stamps – Butterfly Fancy and Sunshine Daisy Other MultiCraft Forever in Time products included was a set of gold foil alphabet and black cardstock They could add a few elements from some of their own stash.
