Well HELLO Creative Scrapbookers, it’s been a minute! Kim here with a blog post I have been promising to share, but there always seems to be something that pulls me in a different direction! So here goes! First, isn’t it wonderful that we are seeing creative events happen in real life again? Tables full of friends laughing, scrapbooking, learning and likely shopping as well, is a experience not to be missed! My first in-person retreat; post Covid, was with the team from Elizabeth Craft Designs. They hosted an amazing Creative Retreat in Banff, Canada, no detail was left unmanaged! The venue, the instructors, the projects, the goody bags [WOWSERS!] and of course the people made it a huge success. Lots of new friendships made and I connected with people I had only ‘met’ online. I enjoyed the event so much, I signed up again for the 2024 Creative Retreat. I…
“Faux Watercolor Stamping Bliss” ideas for Christmas. Hello everyone – Cathie Allan here! One of my classes this year is a wonderful, flexible class called “Faux Watercolor Stamping Bliss”. To achieve the watercolor look for this project we did not even use water. The result was a page and a tag/card that did not warp or heave and we did not have to use a bucket of mediums to create it. I love using my mediums in unique ways, allowing them to multitask for me and mimic other products. The projects that we complete in the class looked like this …. A wonderful masculine page and great “guy” card. Well for this blog post I took those same techniques, changed the colors, changed the stamps and stencils, changed the cut of my Super Stock and came up with some very “timely” Christmas ideas. So for those of you who took…

Today we’d like to introduce to you a company that is near and dear to our CSM hearts! WESTCOTT has been in business since 1872! That’s a lot of years of providing quality products to customers who are obviously happy! As scrapbookers, cardmakers and paper crafters; we all use tools to cut. Trimmers, scissors and hobby knives are probably what come to mind first for most of us. We don’t often sing praises to our cutting tools, we just take them for granted…unless of course they aren’t working for us! Westcott has made it their business to study the science and engineering behind great tools. From award winning titanium bonded, non-stick scissors, comfort grip hobby knives to trimmers that step up to the plate – Westcott has you covered. Their website is a great resource for ALL their products as well as many project ideas. You can also find them…
Let There Be Projects, Lots & Lots of Projects – by Cathie Allan The past two classes that I have been teaching for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine incorporate some of my newest and “of course” most favorite techniques … why, because I get to use stamps/stencils and ink, of course and because “they are my newest” and new is always captivating. These techniques are so “multicraftable” that I have been non stop, creating projects using the ideas that I shared in those classes since I made the originals. A huge part of the joy of sharing new ideas is when someone in the class looks at me with “eyes wide open with inky possibility” as they realize just how beautifully easy stamping and “smearing ink” can be. One treasured moment from this year happened when a young gal came back to me after the class (she was on the crop floor…
