Jayme Loge here on this lovely Tuesday in April.  I’m going to confess right off the top that spring has never been my favourite season. It’s wet, and windy and muddy and grey. But this year, with our record breaking, never ending winter I am craving spring like never before.  Bring on the melt! Bring on the mud! Bring on the drab, dusty landscape! Bring on anything but snow for my eyes to see! As a scrapbooker, I can make these wishes come true. I escaped to my scrapbook area and dug out some favourite spring photos. Although it is too soon yet for gardening, it is one of the rituals that I love about the season. I come from a long line of gardeners, and remember many a spring day planting and hoeing and planning with my extended family. My grandparents had the most astounding gardens and I am…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Fans! Katelyn Grosart on the blog today creating with the Simple Stories Always & Forever collection.I’m excited to be back on the blog to share with you my love themed project. Using the Always & Forever Collection from Simple Stories, some adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, a wood piece from Southern Ridge Trading Company and a variety of products from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful Every Love Story Wall Hanging. You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I share with you how I created my wall hanging. For the base of my project, I used a wood piece from Southern Ridge Trading Company.  You’ll need to apply three coats of Black Soot Distress Paint from Ranger Ink to the wood piece. After the paint has dried, rub the Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon from Ranger Ink around the edges…

I LOVE turkey and mashed potatoes as much as the next guy, but the best thing about Thanksgiving is what comes next! Halloween! I have loved Halloween as long as I can remember! I’m not sure why, maybe because I’m an October “baby” and many birthday celebrations were shared with Halloween events or maybe it’s the colours of fall and the chill in the air…time for sweaters, candles and candy! HALLOWEEN DECOR Of course, when my turn came up for this week’s Tuesday with the Team…I knew I would do a Halloween theme! Without further ado, here is the project I worked on! A little Halloween décor to creep up a corner in my house! This diorama was quite easily put together. I had a box from some Christmas cards that I had saved because it was very sturdy and I loved that the cardboard cover had an opening making…

Hello everyone, Kerry Engel here with one sketch – three different projects. This is a good sketch for a big or dominant photo that really tells your story. The curvy diagonal lines create movement and energy. Supplies:  Creative Memories Cap and Gown Collection, Clearsnap ColorBox ink and embossing powder,  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Stampin’ Up! gold thread, Studio Calico brad. An old Colleague of mine posted her graduation photos on Facebook one day and I instantly had an urge to scrap them. The Cap and Gown collection from Creative Memories has several “2107” embellishments but it’s really a versatile collection. The colors work really well with vintage photos.  I glammed it up a bit with gold embossing powder and shiny brads and thread. The papers held up well to mix media techniques. And the coordinating album is a really classy.  Supplies: Donna Salazar for  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L  Denim Art Journal and…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! With the weather finally changing outside, there seems to be more inspiration from nature, I thought it would be fun to create a spring project. Using the Stand Up Window Kit, a retro bike and flowers from Southern Ridge Trading Company, a few fussy cut images from Bo Bunny’s Butterfly Kisses Collection and a variety of different mediums from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful Spring Window. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage, as I show you how to recreate my Spring Window in the comforts of your own home.To start, you’ll need the Stand Up Window Kit from Southern Ridge Trading Company.  In this kit, you’ll receive the wood base, the wood stand up piece, a rock stencil with the window portion blank and the window with shutters and decorative top piece. Place the stand up piece on…

Happy National Scrapbook Day! Kim here with a layout share using products from Wild Whisper Designs, Ranger Inks, Southern Ridge Trading Company and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I loved the ‘Adventure Collection’ from Wild Whisper Designs from the moment I started to see layouts being created with it shared online. It is so well suited for outdoorsy photos! I paired the papers up with some bear photos I had from a few years back! I am really happy with the finished result! I designed and cut my title using my electronic cutting machine and was thrilled that by chance it lined up perfectly with the design of the paper I placed behind for contrast…giving it a bit more visual texture! My journaling was done using a Ranger Ink Dylusions paint pen – you should try them out if you haven’t…I LOVE them! My bear and tree elements are from Southern…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Today I thought I would switch things up a bit from what I normally create and create some tags that you could use for any occasion. Using the beautiful Lavender Breeze Collection from FabScraps, a few fabulous chipboard pieces and flowers from Southern Ridge Trading Company, wonderful stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies and a variety of products from Ranger, I was able to create these beautiful Any Occasion Tags. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage, as I show you how to recreate my tags in the comfort of your own home. To start, pull out two #8 Manilla Craft Tags from Ranger. With your tags out, you’ll need the Memory Lane and Simplicity patterned paper from FabScraps. Trace one tag on the Memory Lane patterned paper and trace the other tag on the Simplicity patterned paper. Make sure to also mark…

Hello Everyone! Corina Finley here with you today to share my ‘Simple Pleasures’ Coffee themed layout featuring Heartfelt Creations and Southern Ridge Trading Co. chipboard. I created this page to capture my Sunday morning ritual. On Sundays, my oldest son brings me my first cup of coffee of the day in bed! I get to start my day by laying back and relaxing with my dog Kuma. He thinks that the king size bed really belongs to him and sleeps whichever direction he wants! I like to start my projects by collecting the supplies that I think I will need from around my studio and having them on my work surface.  I do still have to grab other items as my design idea changes but I find by doing this it cut back on getting distracted. I chose to use Bazzill Java cardstock and the Coffee Bean Pattern Paper from…

Creating a Background with Ranger Hey Creative Scrapbookers, Nicole here with you for Tuesday with the Team.  Have you got your copy of the Spring Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine?  This card was featured in the Technique Tasters column pages 66-67.  Here, I have a more detailed look at how to create a dynamic background using Ranger Distress Crayons.  Check out the steps below and get your Ranger Distress products ready. Brush a thin layer of Ranger’s White Gesso onto a 2 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of cream cardstock and set aside to dry.  For the background layer prep a 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of watercolor paper.  Spray with water to help the Distress Spray Stain to blend. Spray water over the distress spray stain again and heat dry.  Add distress ink and blend.  This gives the background a rich look.  Flick water over the inked paper…

It’s a 3-in-1 challenge! by Kerry Engel Many of you have been using Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s sketchy challenge as your inspiration-spring-board, creating some beautiful layouts and cards but did you know that you could use a sketch to inspire you in your art journal too? I’m still relatively new to the art journal game. To be honest sometimes I look at all my yummy layers and colorful pages and while I love the techniques and I realize that it’s about ‘playing’ and exploring, at the end I wish that they made more sense.  Visual sense. Visual sense for me starts at the beginning; when I think about the direction or movement that I want in my page. That’s where having a sketch as a launching point helps. I loosely used this months sketch to contain my techniques and create movement down the middle. I really liked how it turned out…
