Nicole here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog sharing my jumpstart on fall – this gorgeous fall card. OK, I know, I know we are only half way through summer and already I’m blogging fall leaves!  I really couldn’t help myself.  I mean… you know me!  This week I am blogging for Xyron where Newton’s Nook are teaming up for some… AWESOMENESS!  I thought I would share my simple card here too. Xyron Xyron just happens to be a sponsor of the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnivals in Edmonton and Calgary this fall! A huge thank you to this awesome company for sponsoring. This event would not be possible without our amazing sponsors! Registration is open – CLICK HERE – you won’t want to miss out! Today’s Project I love fall leaves so of course I had to go for these gorgeous leafy stamps.  Can you imagine these embossed or in an art journal!…

How you Bean… Nicole here and I am sharing my Art Journal pages in my 115 year old book!  ACK… I know it’s old but it is so much fun.  Not everything I get in the mail is something I would normally create with.   That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the challenge of making this my own style.  It creatively opens my mind up and pushes my limits. I picked this pretty spring paper Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petite Paper pack.  I do love plaid.  I stamped on the pattern paper and wait for it… fussy cut. All those jelly’s stamped and yes, more fussy cutting.  I wanted to layer and stack the jars.  Trimming the beans so they spill the way the jars tilt. ACK… trying the new Ranger Distress Oxide Ink by watercoloring the jelly’s.  Love them!!!  Time to make this easy and my Xyron Create a Sticker to adhere all these jelly…

Hoppy Easter to you!  Easter is just around the corner and I made a rustic little framed bunny card for Xyron.  How can you not love these mossy little bunnies!  The Xyron Create a Sticker works wonders for attaching the moss. The Ornate Frame 2 die is the perfect frame for this adorable bunny.  Applying the Ranger Emboss It dauber makes for fast application.  Sprinkle with Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Oil Rubbed Bronze embossing powder then rub the edges clean for a rustic worn look. Exposing the edges allows to some inking with Ranger Brushed Corduroy distress ink.  The Create a Sticker is the perfect size for those smaller die cuts to apply adhesive effortlessly and without the sticky mess for applying the moss. I love having moss in my stash.  Push the moss into place and trim off the moss around the bunny.  The frame is bigger so I used the Creative Station with the 5″ cartridge refill running it through face up.  Rub the frame…

Sizzix Eclips2 – Using SVG files Today I decided to try using some free SVG files I found on the internet.   An SVG file is kind of a universal format that can be imported into most electronic die cutting machines.  The possibilities are endless and files are widely available – there are even some free cut files on the Canadian Scrapbooker website!  Check these out here  http://www.canadianscrapbooker.ca/cut-files/.   If you google ‘free svg files’ you will begin to get an idea of some of the images that are available.  There are even more wonderful svg files available for a small fee.   A couple of great websites that I have discovered so far are http://www.misskatecuttables.com/ and http://svgcuts.com/blog/. In order to cut svg files with the Sizzix Eclips2, you must upgrade the Ecal ‘lite’ software that comes with the machine to the full featured Ecal software.  This costs around $60 but having it…

Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting some layouts our design team created about their hometowns! I LOVE THEM ALL (Yep the layouts and the wonderful girls on my team)! Meet Kim Gowdy Kim has been apart of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine almost since the beginning! She was most definitely our biggest cheerleader from day 1 and over the years has become an important part of our online presence, design team and editorial planning.  THANK YOU Kim! Here is Kim’s take on our page call “My Hometown” SUPPLIES: Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, FabScraps patterned paper, Sizzix dies and Big Shot die Cutting machine, Stampin’ Up! buttons, Clearsnap ink, May Arts twine, Xyron Create-A-Sticker adhesive. To create this layout Kim used some gorgeous barnwood like paper from FabScraps Beachcomber Collection.…

I am just loving some of the new Spellbinders Shapeability dies that were released this winter.  The die set “Shoot”, a set of five arrow dies, actually inspired this layout.  Because arrows made me think about directions, I googled ‘direction quotes’ and found a perfect quote for a scrapbook page.  There were a lot of great quotes to choose from but I’m thinking that arrows are the perfect touch for many projects.  A very versatile die set.  Spellbinders also manufactures my favourite alphabet die sets – the font one upper and lower case sets are the perfect size and style for many projects.  Just love them.  When you make your own letter stickers, you never run out of ‘a’s. Adhering small or delicate die cuts can be tricky, but a Xyron Create-a-Sticker makes the process incredibly easy.  I turned all of my Spellbinder die cuts into stickers so that they…
