Today on our blog, Cathy Caines shares her tips and techniques for creating 8.5″Β x 11″ scrapbook pages. Β  β€˜I had been waiting for this. This was the part of the road trip on my old stomping grounds in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.Β  We had pitas and marched down the main road to check out Jane’s thrift shop.Β  Before we left, I took a moment to take in the view. The old mail box in the tall grass with the mud flats in the back ground. It’s funny how nostalgia works. I miss this place. A place I once called home. A place that helped me grow. Where I made mistakes but had great successes. It’s a part of how I came to be.’ My scrapbook albums are now 8.5 x11”. I switched from my 12×12” albums to the smaller size in 2016 for a couple reasons.Β  I personally enjoyed…

Hi, Tracy here! Today I wanted to share a quick and easy card idea using Stampin’ Up! Stamps, Ranger Archival Ink, Chameleon Pens and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Project Recipe: Stampin’ Up! – Falling Flowers Stamp Set- Β Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set (Sentiment) – Cardstock- white and black Ranger- Tim Holtz Distress Archival Ink- Soot Black – Stickles- Yellow Chameleon Pens – YO3, YG3, RD4, BG4, PR4 Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L- EZ Runner Grand, Black 3D Foam Squares I started with a piece of white cardstock that was 3.75×5. Using my Ranger Archival ink I stamped the Stampin’ Up! flowers and leaves along the top and bottom of the cardstock. This stamp set is perfect for trying Chameleon markers for the first time. The lines of the images are a little thicker, providing a little more forgiveness when colouring. Once my images were coloured I added my sentiment. I picked nice…

Hi there! I’m excited to be back today to share a layout featuring a couple of new products that were released by Creative Memories this month – the Sorbet Collection and the Rectangle Templates for the Custom Cutting System! The Sorbet Collection is full of delicious colors and patterns, and it also has a bit of a retro feel to it. I dug out a variety of old photos of myself that echoed the colors and had a bit of a vintage look. I knew I would have to tone down the bright, busy pattern of the paper with a solid color to make the photos stand out. But instead of just using the Rectangle CCS Templates to simply matt my photos, I thought I would try my hand at creating a cut-work style overlay with them! First, I traced out the various sizes of rectangles and squares onto a…

Hello!Β  Today I am sharing a single page layout I created using the new Sugar Rush Paper Packet from Close to My Heart! Β The main theme of Sugar Rush is donuts and ice cream, so it is full of super sweet patterned papers.Β Β Β  Yummy! I added the title and embellishments to my layout using the Sugar Rush Complements, and Sugar Rush Dots. I also used a black journal pen to draw lines around the perimeter of the photo mats and on anything I wanted to have my eye drawn to on the page. If you don’t have a copy of the Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations catalog or the new Seasonal Expressions (mini catalog), be sure to contact your local CTMH Independent Consultant.Β  Or if you don’t have a Consultant and you live in Canada, let me know and I will get one to you!Β  I would love to…

Once upon a time there was a beautiful stamp that cried out to be used on a project or β€œ6” J.Β  This β€œbeautiful stamp” came from Impression Obsession and was one of their new releases at β€œCREATIVATION” which was held in Phoenix in January. This stamp, part of a β€œgeranium series” from Impression Obsession decided to go home with Cathie and she set to work creating β€œsomething”. Not really knowing what the project would become, Cathie set about simply altering a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock with her new, stamp and the Poinsettia pigment petal point from Clearsnap. Even though the name of this particular stamp pad β€œscreamed Christmas”, Cathie looked past it and simply saw it also was a great combination of colors for a geranium image. She partnered her stamp with her β€œCathie Allan Position-it2”, which is 3 tools in one. This tool can be used with…

Hi, Tracy here and I just want to wish all of my crafty peeps out there a Happy Valentine’s Day! The world could use a little more LOVE these days I think. So with it being Valentine’s Day, winter in some parts of our world, and a sometimes dreary world in the news…I wanted to share a little bit of crafty LOVE. Project Recipe: Simple Stories- Love & Adore Collection patterned paper, chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers, bits & pieces, sticker sheets Elizabeth Craft Designs- Medallion Stencil, Entwined Circles Dies Β  Β  Close To My Heart- Ink: Blush, Black Cardstock- white, black, pink Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L- EZ Runner Grand, White Photo Corners, Crafty Foam Tape, Foam Squares I had a little fun with Elizabeth Craft Designs using their medallion stencil and pink ink from Close To My Heart. I stencilled 2 images around the matted photo.Β  Then I used…

Β  Lately I have been feeling un-inspired. I want to be in my craft room but it seems like everything I make, I can’t get quite right. While playing around with the Lift Me Up bundle in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog, I was stamping in black and gold and red… pretty much every colour of the rainbow. And then I finally used silver embossing powder. BAM. That’s all I needed to get the wheels turning.Β  I stamped in silver and then I did some die cuts in silver foil.Β  I was really impressed how the silver foil Up and Away Thinlet die ran through the Big Shot with ease.Β  This particular card has a lightly water coloured background using the tempting turquoise Stampin’ Up! refill ink. This gave it a look as if it was a sky. Many of you know that I die cut and stamp…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and although I don’t normally create a lot of projects for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to create a few special cards for those special people in my life. Using the Butterfly Kisses Collection from Bo Bunny, some chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company and pairing them up with new quarry stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies as well as a variety of products from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful vintage β€œLove” card. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I show you how to create the elements on my card as well as inspire you to recreate this project in the comforts of your own home. From Bo Bunny’s Butterfly Kisses – Peaceful paper, cut a piece that measures 5 ¾” x 5 ¾”. Once the piece…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! It’s Jayme here with a rare occurrence. I created a masculine layout. As the mother to a daughter, I don’t get the opportunity very often. I do scrapbook my husband, of course, but he is usually photographed with me or my daughter. Feminine layouts are certainly my comfort zone. Thank goodness for nephews! They add color and they get me out of my scrapbooking box! Here is the result- I hope you like it as much as I did. Supplies used- Patterned paper, stickers: Bella Blvd – Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios – Stencil: Magenta For the final touches I added some Ranger Dylusions paint! I originally thought I would be serious about adding color to the background in an orderly fashion. Then I realized, I am a Jayme, and who am I going to kid with antics like that? Let the messy play begin! So, it was…
