Hello from Michelle Stewart! I’m a consultant with Close to My Heart all the way from Halifax, Nova Scotia and I’m so happy to be a guest blogger for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. Today I want to share with you some cards I’ve made using 3 of the paper collections that are still currently available in our Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog. This first card is created using the Dreamin’ Big Paper, and I love the color pallet for this paper collection.Β  I’ve used the Dreamin’ Big cardmaking stamp for this card and fussy cut leaving a white boarder.Β  I didn’t have sequins in the colour I wanted, but no big deal.Β  Just grab some alcohol markers and colour some silver ones to match. For this next card, I used this pale pink patterned paper from the Hello Lovely collection. I wanted to create a soft feminine card so I used the…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a layout inspired by the March sketch from the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine sketchy galleryΒ and products from the beautiful Simple Stories Reset Girl line. Here’s the sketch. Β I know I’m a month late, but hey, sketches never expire. Β The Sketchy Gallery has the perfect sketch for any occasion. The layout was very easy to put together. Β I just took pieces of patterned paper from the Reset Girl collection, rearranged them and rotated to look sort of like the March sketch and added a few stickers to finish up. Β I also like applying washi tape to the top and bottom of the page, it just adds a little bit of ‘extra’. Β Simple and done – another memory and beautiful photograph of friends is ready for the scrapbook album. Β Β  Supplies Used: Β Simple Stories patterned paper and stickers, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L adhesive, Sakura pen. SUBSCRIBE TODAYΒ to…

Hello! I’m happy to be here to share a special layout created with products from the gorgeous new β€œForever Yours” Collection by Creative Memories! The collection is designed to help you preserve your wedding memories, but it worked just as beautifully to preserve the memory of a very special woman. My mom passed away recently and she’s been on my mind a lot. I wanted to create a layout to remember her by that featured one of the last photos taken of us before her Alzheimer’s disease became very advanced. I knew that the colors in the photo would work beautifully with the colors in the Forever Yours papers (rich cream, silvery gray, gold, navy and pink) and the coordinating Stickers and Pearl Adhesive Gems from the Embellishment Pack. I also used CM’s lustrous Gold Shimmer Cardstock as a backdrop, and Navy ABC/123 Stickers for my title. I wanted to…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Today I thought I would switch things up a bit from what I normally create and create some tags that you could use for any occasion.Β Using the beautiful Lavender Breeze Collection fromΒ FabScraps, a few fabulous chipboard pieces and flowers fromΒ Southern Ridge Trading Company, wonderful stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies and a variety of products fromΒ Ranger, I was able to create these beautiful Any Occasion Tags. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage, as I show you how to recreate my tags in the comfort of your own home. To start, pull out two #8 Manilla Craft Tags from Ranger. With your tags out, you’ll need the Memory Lane and Simplicity patterned paper from FabScraps. Trace one tag on the Memory Lane patterned paper and trace the other tag on the Simplicity patterned paper. Make sure to also mark…

How you Bean… Nicole here and I am sharing my Art Journal pages in my 115 year old book!Β  ACK… I know it’s old but it is so much fun.Β  Not everything I get in the mail is something I would normally create with. Β  That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the challenge of making this my own style. Β It creatively opens my mind up and pushes my limits. I picked this pretty spring paper Lawn FawnΒ Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petite PaperΒ pack. Β I do love plaid. Β I stamped on the pattern paper and wait for it… fussy cut. All those jelly’s stamped and yes, more fussy cutting. Β I wanted to layer and stack the jars. Β Trimming the beans so they spill the way the jars tilt. ACK… trying the new RangerΒ Distress Oxide InkΒ by watercoloring the jelly’s. Β Love them!!! Β Time to make this easy and myΒ XyronΒ Create a StickerΒ to adhere all these jelly…

Hello from Vicki Wizniuk! Today I am sharing a single page layout I created using the Rustic Home Fundamentals papers from Close to My Heart! I seriously am in love with how versatile these papers are.Β  They are very masculine, but can also be used for a more feminine project. This layout features just a couple of the patterned papers from this fabulous paper packet, plus I added some embellishments from the My Boy Complements.Β  The perfect pairing!Β  And the black gems are from the Black & White Dots pack. Β I kept my layout quite simple, to give you an example of how you can create quick layouts with few supplies. If you don’t have a copy of the Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations catalog or the Seasonal Expressions 1 (mini catalog), be sure to contact your local CTMH Independent Consultant.Β  Or if you don’t have a Consultant and…

April Sketchy Challenge Blog Post 3-in-1 challenge. Happy April everyone! Kerry Engel here. Β I thought this month we could talk about design principles. I’ve always been a disciple of the CRAP Method of designing: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity. These are the four principles that dictate pretty much everything I create. Here’s how I’ve used these principles in the April sketch: Contrast is created through the placement of the photo strip on the left and the white space on the right. Repetition is expressed through the repeating of the circle motif and the rectangular shapes in the photos and journaling blocks. Alignment is achieved by keeping all the spaces between the elements a similar distance apart. Proximity is attained by keeping β€œlike” elements close and tight. The journaling is kept together (in one area) and isn’t spread all over and the photos are kept collected in one area too. This…

Hello! Kim here today, I love when I get to share what I’ve been up to on the blog. I’ve been having fun playing with Distress Oxide inks, I ordered an entire set after seeing them at Creativation 2017 in January. They are easy to layer, emboss and stamp with. The icing on the cake is the magic that happens when you add a spritz or two of water to the mix! Here is the fun Easter card I put together this past weekend. I used some of my favourite Ranger/Tim HoltzΒ products and an alpha die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. My background was created by adding layers of Distress Oxide ink to water colour paper. I dried each layer with my heat gun before adding the next layer to keep the colours separate. I pounced a bit of the ink through a stencil for added interest as well as…

Hello everyone – Cathy Caines here Β I think by playing with ice cream and popsicle stamps, I can convince myself that it’s Summer outside my froze bitten window. Oh yes, the calendar tells me it’s Spring and that silly Shuebenacadie Sam groundhog supposedly saw his shadow but it couldn’t be farther from the truth on the East Coast of Canada.Β  Perhaps it’s time for that guy to get some glasses. I spent a great deal of time stamping different colour combinations and putting together a number of die cuts using the Cool Treats stamp and die cuts.Β  It’s the way I roll. It wasn’t until I truly thought about my favourite ice cream that I found the perfect fit. Mint Chocolate Chip! The delicate white doilies are a perfect way to accent the card as it looks like the little wrappers that sometimes comes on the ice cream cones. While,…
