Hello and Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share using Creative Scrapbooker Magazineโ€™s December Sketchy Challenge. Decemberโ€™s wreath sketch was once again designed by the talented Kerry Engel and easily spoke to our holiday brains as a backdrop to holiday pictures. My brain quickly went to winter, Christmas, green, red and gold when I initially saw the designโ€ฆthatโ€™s when my hand went up and said NO! I like to challenge the sketches by thinking outside of my gut feelings. I had all kinds of winter themed product on my desk and couldnโ€™t get my brain away from a Christmas wreath vision, so I cleared it ALL off my table and pulled out the first collection of paper I had that was NOT Christmas. It just happened to be Simple Storiesโ€™ Forever Fall collection. First off, I LOVE autumn and I LOVE autumn colours. My brain started chugging…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! I’m excited to be back on the blog today sharing with you my last post of the year and to end the year, Iโ€™ve created a Christmas themed scrapbook layout. To kick-start the idea for my layout, I used our December Sketch which was designed by Kerry Engel. With the sketch in hand, I set off to create my Christmas Memories Scrapbook Layout which features the Christmas Collection from Carta Bellaย ย Ink from Ranger Ink and adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Youโ€™ll want to grab a cup of your favourite holiday beverage as I share with you how I created my layout at home. In the bottom right side of the circle, I layered in elements out of the Christmas Ephemera, Frames & Tags and the Paper Pack from Carta Bella. The photo is cut down to 3 ยฝโ€ x 3 ยฝโ€. To finish off the…

Good Morning everyone! Kim here with a very quick layout share of my take on our June Sketchy Challenge. As you will see, once again I have flipped and rotated the sketch! My layout still only loosely follows the new perspective, but you’ll see how the components of the layout are still there!Echo Park’s Dog collection was the perfect choice for my subject; my ready-to-go chocolate lab Bella! I used MultiCraft’s card stock as my base as well as adhesives from Therm O Web and a Chameleon Color Tones pen aptly named ‘bark’ [though probably as it relates to a tree not a dog-LOL]. We look forward to seeing how you use our monthly sketches from the Sketchyย Gallery! We LOVE to share them on social media!

There is ALWAYS time to join our monthly sketchy challenge. Hi everyone! Noreen Smith here from OrganizedandCreativeMom.com with a double page sketch for you! I had so much fun with this sketch that I couldnโ€™t just make one layout based on itโ€ฆI had to make three! And I was happy to use three of the newest new paper collections from Creative Memories โ€“ Oh, Canada!, Star-Spangled and Brave โ€“ to do so. All three of these fantastic paper packs are perfect to use during the summer months to celebrate upcoming patriotic holidays, summer picnics and BBQs, camping and outdoor adventures, and heroes of every kind!I love creating simple and versatile layouts that I call โ€œ1-2-3 layoutsโ€ because they use just one piece of double-sided patterned paper, two pieces of cardstock or album pages for the base and are made with just three cuts. Hereโ€™s the sketch:And hereโ€™s the cutting guide:Itโ€™s sooo easy and quickโ€“ cut your double sided 12โ€ x…

Good morning and happy Monday! Kim here with a quick birthday card share today! This month I challenged myself to use the April Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for a card. Even before choosing my products, I knew I wanted to make the triangle accent from stamps! I created a paper mask from my Impression Obsession stamped image so I could easily overlap my stamped design making it look like one continuous image โ€“ I love how it turned out! I took a black marker and ruler to divide the two sides. I created three layered areas using stamps, stencil and Clearsnap Chalk ink! I fussy cut the bird image and layered it with the Impression Obsession die cut pine boughs and a little black tread. The โ€œHappy Birthdayโ€ sentiment was a perfect finishing touch! Thanks for taking the time to check out my card, try one of our…

Hello! Kim here with a quick share, my layout based on our December Sketchy Challenge!ย Those who go to retreats with me know that I CANNOT focus and get things done. I chat too much, canโ€™t find what I need and โ€œsquirrelโ€ around seeing what everyone else is doing! In the moment, I hate that I canโ€™t scrapbook while retreating, but I come home so inspiredโ€ฆitโ€™s just what I need to unwind and get the creative juices flowing! My friend Kerry gave me the creative task of working with the negative space of her cut-out for a project. Based on the shapeโ€ฆIโ€™m sure it was for her sketch inspired layout as well! MY FAVOURITE RANGER PRODUCTS I taped it onto my blank, bright-white Creative Scrapbooker Magazineโ€™s Superstock and started playing with my Ranger Distress Oxide inks! It was the perfect task for my squirrelling brainโ€ฆno real thought required, just swirling ink…

If I had a choice of where to live in the entire world it would definitely be somewhere near the sea. There is just something about salty air, the song of the waves and the sweet smell of adventure. There is a cruise line somewhere whose tag line advertisement is “The Sea is Calling”…gets me everytime! ย LOL! ย BoBunny has a collection of scrapbooking supplies called Down By the Sea. I love the colours of this line and all the fun embellishments that have ย a fishy, salty theme, especially the mermaids! LOVE IT! Tracy Mclennon has taken the BoBunny Down By The Sea collection and used it to design her take on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine monthly sketch challenge. Here is the September sketch that Tracy used. This just might be one of my most favourite sketches that Kerry has created, its such a cool concept. I have been enjoying seeing all…
