Cathie Allan here. I just wanted to share a little of my “Christmas Stair Art” with you. I have been creating “Stair Art” with my rubber stamps for many years. I started creating these on 6X6 blocks of wood. I would use my stamps and acrylic paint to create them and I place them in the corners of my stairs. These have always made me smile. Last year I started creating them with Superstock, which I fortify and now they are “so much faster” to create. No prepping of the wood. No waiting for sealer to dry and they look AWESOME. I am sharing a couple of the “older, on the wooden block” ones that I made in previous years (if you look real close you can see that these were done in 1997)and the one that I created this year. It’s that time of year. You’ve got to do your Christmas Cards. I am here to tell you: Don’t be ambitious. Be realistic. You need a card that is a) beautiful b) quick and c) has a wow factor. That’s this card. Say hello to… Well. Simply – one glittery bulb using Stampin’ Up! products. You can make these in bulk quickly. Step one: Stamp using versamark your image onto watercolour paper. I chose this delightful Stampin’ Up! Happy Ornament stamp set. Heat emboss using black embossing powder. I usually do this in batches of 10. Step two: Watercolour using your Stampin’ Write markers and an aqua painter. See last months Creative Scrapbooker Magazine post on how to do this. Let air dry or use a heat gun. Here is my take on our October Sketch featuring Magenta, Clearsnap, Sakura and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I was totally inspired by my beautiful friend Christy Riopel, who passed away on August 21. As I created this layout using her techniques and tips and tricks – I found a little bit of healing. Through the tears many many many wonderful memories emerged – thank you Christy for so much. Every season has a story Back to routine. Back to photo management. Every month I go through my photos and hit “delete”. Typically, this does happen every month but not this summer. While trying to catch up, I ran across these photos from a last minute trip to Cape Spear, Newfoundland – only a twenty minute drive from my home. This story needed to be told right now. I jumped off the couch and got every rolling. In fact, I had already documented this story on a blog post. All I had to do now was put the layout together. This time I started with the story. I copy and pasted the story from the blog post onto an 8.5×11” canvas in Photoshop. I hit print. I printed the photos with a border using my Canon Selphy printer knowing which photos I wanted where. Hi everyone and welcome to September! You might be a little confused because of the Santas in the pictures above. But it’s definitely September and not December. September 1st was the kick off for the latest Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog and I couldn’t wait to show you some products from the book. These cards stay true to my lean and clean style. The vintage style stamps are incredibly gorgeous. This one, called Father Christmas, is stunning and a must have item. As far as I am concerned, it’s never too early to start preparing for the holiday season. Happy Monday my friends! These cuties.. right? The minute I saw this little fox, I had to have the Foxy Friends stamp set and matching fox builder punch. Little did I know at the time that this bundle could create more than just a fox! The critters created in these two cards were made from this punch. And believe me, there’s many other cuties you can make. Both of these cards were created with babies in mind. It must be the cuteness factor. Often when I have a shower or there’s a new baby arriving, I am scrambling to make a card. Not now. Not today.
