Kim here today to share my take on the March Sketchy Challenge. This fun sketch was designed by the talented Kerry Engel; who shared several takes of this sketch in our Sketchy Gallery. I choose to work with this sketch while on retreat a few weeks back. I am not a productive scrapbooker at retreats because I socialize and enjoy the company around me, I find it hard to create with so much going on but wouldn’t miss them for the world…retreats are just plain good for the soul! I used paper and die-cuts from Kaisercraft’s β€œMe Collection”. It was the perfect retreat paper…I grabbed 3 Chameleons pens and randomly coloured some of the doodles on the page…all while keeping up with the stories going on around me! I grabbed my Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L tape runner to put everything in place! My title is made from older Tim Holtz…

YES …. my Cathie Allan Position-it has had an upgrade.Β  I have loved my Position-it for many years. Loved that it was two tools in one. It was a tool that worked as a positioner, allowing you to place images β€œexactly” where you wanted them on your project AND allowed you to stamp an image, over and over and over again in exactly the same place thus opening up endless possibilities with my favourite art tools, my rubber stamps. Loved that it works on ALL sizes of paper. Loved that it worked with wood mounted rubber stamps, cling rubber stamps AND clear rubber stamps. Sounds amazing right … YES it was and YES …. it still IS but now …. it allows me to do even more.Β  In essence … it simply makes stamping easier and even more β€œfunner” (yes, I know that is not a word (yet) I like…

Hello everyone! My name is Leah O’Neil I’m new here on the blog and am so excited to be here! I am on the Simple Stories Creative team and I’m going to be popping in a few times throughout 2017 to show you how I use and decorate my Carpe Diem planners to organize my life, to document the past and present, and to plan for the future. I truly have a love affair with paper products and accessories. The possibilities for what you can do with an empty planner are ENDLESS, which is probably why I have so many…I tend to collect them. I have lots of planners and I use several at a time. I typically have only one designated as an agenda, to plan out my days/weeks/months. The other planners I actively use all have different functions. The one I’m going to be giving you a peek…

Hoppy Easter to you! Β Easter is just around the corner and I made a rustic little framed bunny card forΒ Xyron. Β How can you not love these mossy little bunnies! Β The XyronΒ Create a StickerΒ works wonders for attaching the moss. TheΒ Ornate Frame 2Β die is the perfect frame for this adorable bunny. Β Applying the RangerΒ Emboss ItΒ dauber makes for fast application. Β Sprinkle with Emerald Creek Craft SuppliesΒ Oil Rubbed BronzeΒ embossing powder then rub the edges clean for a rustic worn look. Exposing the edges allows to some inking with RangerΒ Brushed CorduroyΒ distress ink. Β TheΒ Create a StickerΒ is the perfect size for those smaller die cuts to apply adhesive effortlessly and without the sticky mess for applying the moss. I love having moss in my stash. Β Push the moss into place and trim off the moss around the bunny. Β The frame is bigger so I used theΒ Creative StationΒ with theΒ 5″ cartridge refillΒ running it through face up. Β Rub the frame…

So? Are you wearing any green today? Will you be drinking any green beer? Will someone kiss you just because you’re Irish? Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! So much to celebrate on this day even if you aren’t Irish, because we are just three more sleeps until the start of spring…winter is almost behind us; or at least that is what my brain thinks! The days are brighter and whatever snow comes now, shouldn’t last long…we’ve got this! Time to get to business! We are thrilled to share Joanne McClintock’s creative space today. You will love her organized space! Hi Kim. I thought I would share my craft space today. I’m quite proud of it; but it is and will always be, a work in progress. IΒ try to add objects that inspire me, so it is ever changing. My fabulous hubby agreed to move our eldest son downstairs so I…

Hello everyone! It’s Kelly Klapstein here today sharing a cute “Good Luck” card with you. I designed this card using only a few supplies: Chameleon Pens, Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock, Tombow Adhesive, Westcott Trimmer, and a pencil. You might know that I’m slightly obsessed with brush lettering and calligraphy, so I wanted to show you a way you can ‘fake’ out lettering in an easy way. Start by writing a word with a pencil. Then add a second line to the downstrokes of the letters. When you finish sketching the rest of the card, you trace over it with a permanent pen.Β Β I love the black detail pen that comes in with the Chameleon Pen set.Β  It has 2 nibs of different sizes on either end. I used the larger .6mm nib for my card. For the lettering, you can either fill in the strokes with the black pen or leave…

It’s a 3-in-1 challenge! by Kerry Engel Many of you have been using Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s sketchy challenge as your inspiration-spring-board, creating some beautiful layouts and cards but did you know that you could use a sketch to inspire you in your art journal too? I’m still relatively new to the art journal game. To be honest sometimes I look at all my yummy layers and colorful pages and while I love the techniques and I realize that it’s about β€˜playing’ and exploring, at the end I wish that they made more sense.Β  Visual sense. Visual sense for me starts at the beginning; when I think about the direction or movement that I want in my page. That’s where having a sketch as a launching point helps. I loosely used this months sketch to contain my techniques and create movement down the middle. I really liked how it turned out…
