Hello! Kim here today, I love when I get to share what I’ve been up to on the blog. I’ve been having fun playing with Distress Oxide inks, I ordered an entire set after seeing them at Creativation 2017 in January. They are easy to layer, emboss and stamp with. The icing on the cake is the magic that happens when you add a spritz or two of water to the mix! Here is the fun Easter card I put together this past weekend. I used some of my favourite Ranger/Tim HoltzΒ products and an alpha die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. My background was created by adding layers of Distress Oxide ink to water colour paper. I dried each layer with my heat gun before adding the next layer to keep the colours separate. I pounced a bit of the ink through a stencil for added interest as well as…

Hello everyone – Cathy Caines here Β I think by playing with ice cream and popsicle stamps, I can convince myself that it’s Summer outside my froze bitten window. Oh yes, the calendar tells me it’s Spring and that silly Shuebenacadie Sam groundhog supposedly saw his shadow but it couldn’t be farther from the truth on the East Coast of Canada.Β  Perhaps it’s time for that guy to get some glasses. I spent a great deal of time stamping different colour combinations and putting together a number of die cuts using the Cool Treats stamp and die cuts.Β  It’s the way I roll. It wasn’t until I truly thought about my favourite ice cream that I found the perfect fit. Mint Chocolate Chip! The delicate white doilies are a perfect way to accent the card as it looks like the little wrappers that sometimes comes on the ice cream cones. While,…

This week we are featuring a blog post Christy did for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine on July 22 2014 – written in her own words. Chalkboard embellishments are all the rage right now and I love Core-dinations ColorCore cardstocks new Chalk Core Paper for making my own embellishments! I used Core’dinations Color Core cardstock, Spellbinders dies, Clearsnap Izinks, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Simple Stories stickers, Prima Marketing flowers, Xyron Sticker MakersΒ and Marvy gel pens. I cut out and embossed several shapes from the Chalk Core paper using my dies. To make it easier to sand the very fine cuts I first ran them through my Xyron sticker maker. Leaving the cut out on the backing I then sanded the embossed die cuts making them look like beautiful fine chalk work!! I then added them to my layout over a layer of Clearsnap Izinks. I added a very old, vintage photo…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans!Β  With Easter right around the corner, I thought I would share with you today an Easter card for that special someone in your life.Β Using the Butterfly Kisses Collection fromΒ Bo Bunny, a variety of dies fromΒ Elizabeth Craft Designs, stamps, stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies and a variety of products fromΒ Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful Easter card. You’ll want to make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage, as I will show you how to recreate this project in the comforts of your own home. Using the Gatefold – Elegant Rose die from Elizabeth Craft Designs, die cut the gatefold out of Tutu Double Dot from Bo Bunny. With the gatefold cut out, trim two pieces out that measure 2” x 1 ¾”. Apply Emboss It Ink from Ranger Ink to both pieces. Once the ink is…

Hello Everyone! Corina Finley here with you today to share my β€˜Simple Pleasures’ Coffee themed layout featuring Heartfelt Creations and Southern Ridge Trading Co. chipboard. I created this page to capture my Sunday morning ritual. On Sundays, my oldest son brings me my first cup of coffee of the day in bed! I get to start my day by laying back and relaxing with my dog Kuma. He thinks that the king size bed really belongs to him and sleeps whichever direction he wants! I like to start my projects by collecting the supplies that I think I will need from around my studio and having them on my work surface.Β  I do still have to grab other items as my design idea changes but I find by doing this it cut back on getting distracted. I chose to use Bazzill Java cardstock and the Coffee Bean Pattern Paper from…

Creating a Background with Ranger Hey Creative Scrapbookers, Nicole here with you for Tuesday with the Team.Β  Have you got your copy of the Spring Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine?Β  This card was featured in the Technique Tasters column pages 66-67.Β  Here, I have a more detailed look at how to create a dynamic background using Ranger Distress Crayons.Β  Check out the steps below and get your Ranger Distress products ready. Brush a thin layer of Ranger’s White Gesso onto a 2 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of cream cardstock and set aside to dry.Β  For the background layer prep a 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of watercolor paper.Β  Spray with water to help the Distress Spray Stain to blend. Spray water over the distress spray stain again and heat dry.Β  Add distress ink and blend.Β  This gives the background a rich look.Β  Flick water over the inked paper…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a very simple layout that uses minimal supplies – basically just cardstock! Β If you have an electronic die cutting machine like the Sizzix Eclips2, you really don’t need much else. This layout is totally about the Sunflower cut file from Quietfire Design. Β I fell in love with it when I saw it, and what better page embellishment for sunflower photos? Β I was so excited last year when a friend told me about a nearby sunflower field. Β You can of course customize the colours and size of the flowers as you see fit so it is a very versatile file. I cut the flowers and the title out with a Sizzix Eclips 2. Β I opened the svg file, ungrouped the shapes and cut them out of different colours of cardstock. Β They were so pretty I didn’t want to add a lot of other ‘stuff’…

Today on our blog, we welcome colouring artist Betty Hung who is sharing her thoughts on Chameleon Pens. I received a set of 22 Chameleon pens, plusΒ a box of 16 Chameleon Color Cards last week, and I am off this week. Lucky me! What better way to spend your vacation days than trying out new coloring products? After playing withΒ them for two days, I have to say I am in love with these Chameleon pens. Simply put, Chameleon pens are alcohol markers. They are designed so that youΒ canΒ achieve multiple tonesΒ from light to dark using one pen. These are alcohol based, so I wouldn’tΒ use them on my coloring books unless they are single-sided. It soaked through 70 lb card stock paper that I used to print my coloring cards, so make sure you put extra protection underneath to protect your desk while coloring. Each penΒ has 3 parts: a brush nib, a…
