Happy Friday! Didn’t we just turn the page on June? How did it get to be the 9th already! Before you know it, the kids will be done school and holidays begin! Do you have some big summer plans or do you preferΒ β€œstay-cations” – hanging out in the sprinkler and enjoying what your neighbourhood has to offer? I might clean my craft room on a rainy day!!! Speaking of craft rooms, let’s peek into Melanie Bennett’s space, her story will make you appreciate how powerful our hobby is! I love my crafty space, it’s my place to decompress. I was diagnosed with MS several years ago and turned to crafting once I was unable to work anymore. Crafting has given me such a wonderful way to spend my time and has opened the door to meet some of the best men & women that I am lucky to now call…

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a layout featuring some bright sunny colours and a couple of easy techniques featuring reinkers, gesso and cling wrap. Supplies Used: Β CTMH stamps, ink, reinkers, heart dies, cardstock and patterned paper, Ranger Industries gesso, stencil and glossy paper. I started by tinting some white gesso from Ranger with a few drops of Lemon reinker from Close to My Heart and smooshing it through a Dina Wakley large block stencil onto a piece of cardstock. Β I just wanted to take the edge off of the white, but if you wanted a more intense colour, just add more reinker to customize the gesso colour to whatever you want. Β  While that was drying, I made some marbleized looking paper by spraying some ink onto a piece of crumpled cling wrap and pressing onto a piece of glossy paper. Β I let that dry too, then cut out…

How you Bean… Nicole here and I am sharing my Art Journal pages in my 115 year old book!Β  ACK… I know it’s old but it is so much fun.Β  Not everything I get in the mail is something I would normally create with. Β  That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the challenge of making this my own style. Β It creatively opens my mind up and pushes my limits. I picked this pretty spring paper Lawn FawnΒ Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petite PaperΒ pack. Β I do love plaid. Β I stamped on the pattern paper and wait for it… fussy cut. All those jelly’s stamped and yes, more fussy cutting. Β I wanted to layer and stack the jars. Β Trimming the beans so they spill the way the jars tilt. ACK… trying the new RangerΒ Distress Oxide InkΒ by watercoloring the jelly’s. Β Love them!!! Β Time to make this easy and myΒ XyronΒ Create a StickerΒ to adhere all these jelly…

Hello from Vicki Wizniuk! Today I am sharing a single page layout I created using the Rustic Home Fundamentals papers from Close to My Heart! I seriously am in love with how versatile these papers are.Β  They are very masculine, but can also be used for a more feminine project. This layout features just a couple of the patterned papers from this fabulous paper packet, plus I added some embellishments from the My Boy Complements.Β  The perfect pairing!Β  And the black gems are from the Black & White Dots pack. Β I kept my layout quite simple, to give you an example of how you can create quick layouts with few supplies. If you don’t have a copy of the Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations catalog or the Seasonal Expressions 1 (mini catalog), be sure to contact your local CTMH Independent Consultant.Β  Or if you don’t have a Consultant and…

April Sketchy Challenge Blog Post 3-in-1 challenge. Happy April everyone! Kerry Engel here. Β I thought this month we could talk about design principles. I’ve always been a disciple of the CRAP Method of designing: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity. These are the four principles that dictate pretty much everything I create. Here’s how I’ve used these principles in the April sketch: Contrast is created through the placement of the photo strip on the left and the white space on the right. Repetition is expressed through the repeating of the circle motif and the rectangular shapes in the photos and journaling blocks. Alignment is achieved by keeping all the spaces between the elements a similar distance apart. Proximity is attained by keeping β€œlike” elements close and tight. The journaling is kept together (in one area) and isn’t spread all over and the photos are kept collected in one area too. This…
