In loving memory of Christy Riopel – here is a page from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Winter 2012 issue. Christy wrote and designed a feature article called Home for the Holidays. In this article she designed a number of home decor Christmas themed projects – including this beautiful place setting featuring Bo Bunny Her designs were classic. So clean and simple yet elegant. Christy truly had a gift for designing. Thinking of you everyday Christy All my love Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is honoured to announce that we have started an ART Scholarship in Christy’s name. Once again, Betty Hung has illustrated a card for us to download, print and colour!  December’s Christmas card is beautiful! Betty used the same colouring techniques with Tombow Dual brush pens as she did last month. Isn’t that plaid effect on the Merry Christmas wonderful? Here is what the card looks like when you download it and print it…in 8.5 x 11″ size. Then you can cut it out and colour! Just click HERE to download your free colouring card, and share with us on Facebook when you’re finished. To see more of Betty’s artwork and colouring techniques, click HERE to visit her blog. Hello!  Today I am sharing a mini album I created by repurposing the Happy, Happy Christmas My Crush pages from Close to My Heart! The Happy, Happy Christmas My Crush pages come in a package of 30 double-sided, loose printed pages, and 3-ring hole punched, measuring 8 3/8” x 6 7/8”.  They are designed to be used in the Everyday Life albums so you can whip up a quick album, but I wanted to change it up a bit…. check out my 6”x6” mini album. I added embellishments to my mini album from the City Sidewalks Complements, and a few Clear Sparkles here and there, and added colour to some of the Clear Sparkles using green and red ShinHan Touch Twin markers. What a fun way to create something completely unique! Well, that is it for me for today.  If you don’t have a copy of the new Close To…

I made an ornament. A deliciously cute ornament. The cutest part is that if you look closely, you can see a sweet Christmas tree inside. This ornament was created in the wee hours of the morning like many of my projects while I was “face-timing” with a friend.  Although I had the idea of making an ornament using the Stampin’ Up! Home Sweet Home die, she came up with the idea for the mini tree inside. She’s a genius. Note: These brush trees were bought from Target in the USA when I was visiting last month.  How I miss Target in Canada.  Whenever I cross the border, you can see me filling up my bags with crates, twine, wire baskets, etc.  Let us now bow our heads to mourn the loss of Target. In order to create this ornament, much of the work is done for you as it’s a…

Hi there, Connie Nichol here today with a Christmas layout featuring the Believe Way with Words die from Elizabeth Crafts Designs, the Merry & Bright Christmas collection from Bo Bunny and a Quietfire Design stamp with a beautiful quote.  My kids are getting older, but even as gawky teenagers, they still adore Christmas and all the special traditions that come with it.  Make sure that you  take a few pictures to capture the memories this Christmas, even if it is not ideal.  This past Christmas we were still in the middle of renovations and the flooring had all been ripped up.  Plywood is not a very conducive environment for Christmas decorating but it is still a special time of year and I’m glad to have these photos to remember it by. I actually started with the December sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s sketchy gallery.  It’s a card sketch, but there’s no…

Hey everyone, Nicole over at Nicole Wright Designs and I am sharing a creative challenge I face… a simple clean card.  I always want to throw all my inks, stamps, die cuts, stencils and embellishments at them.  This card is so clean and basic there’s barely even a tutorial.  That is great if you want to make some quick holiday cards or gift tags.  Take the stress out of the holidays and keep it simple. The key to making these quick with a little bling are the Ranger Metal Foil Tape Sheets. I cut the Woodlands, Holiday Words Block and Holiday Words Script Thinlits with the Foil Sheets. Using the Magnetic Platorm for the Thinlits makes cutting easy as the dies won’t shift. 2. Simply position and stick the Woodlands Metal Foil Tree onto your cardstock. No glue required. Mount your treed layer  with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam…

Christmas Advent Calendar – Guest Post with Katelyn Grosart Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Christmas is right around the corner and I thought that it would be fun to share with you this fabulous Advent Calendar kit from Southern Ridge Trading Company. Using the advent calendar kit as well as adding some other chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company and pairing them up with embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies as well as a variety of products from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful vintage Advent Calendar. You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I have a tutorial for you, so that you can recreate this project in the comforts of your own home. To start, you’ll need the top piece of the advent calendar, which is the piece that has the doors on it. Cover the entire surface with Victorian Velvet…
