Kim Gowdy here on the blog today, happily sharing my layout inspired by the August Sketchy Challenge. I have been struggling to find time in my craft room these past months…but stay focused to get ALL the sketches completed! The August sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein was very graphic. I swayed from that aspect of the design but otherwise kept pretty true to it. My layout is pretty simple using papers, stickers and ephemera from Fancy Pant’s “ME-OLOGY” collection. The paw print, cut behind the pictures, was done on my Cricut Explore using Close To My Heart’s Artistry cartridge. I also used Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L and the little wood veneer dogs were from Studio Calico. By the way; the topic of my layout…TRUE STORY! Go forth and scrapbookΒ withΒ our sketches. They are always available in our Sketchy Gallery. On time or late…we LOVE to see what you share.
Hi everyone!Β It’s Kelly Klapstein here todayΒ with a card I made for a special friend who is going through a difficult time battling breast cancer.Β Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought I would share this card with Canadian Scrapbooker readers. I pulled out my Close To My Heart watercolour supplies and pink cardstock and got busy! Did you know CTMH has all these wonderful products for you to indulge your inner artist? First I used a couple of the pink watercolours to paint the 3 heart balloons. After this dried, I outlined the balloons with a black permanent fine-tipped marker and also drew balloon string words. I wanted to add more pink colour to the plain white background so I brushed some wet watercolour pinks onto a piece of plastic and then pressed the card face down into it to pick up the paints. I like…

Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today. Β I used the September sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge as a jumping off point for scrapbooking this childhood photo.Β I donβt have a lot of pictures from when I was a kid and virtually all of them are in 35 mm slide format, so I am slowly scanning, printing and scrapbooking them while my parents are still around to help me remember dates, places and people. The layout doesnβt resemble the sketch much, but thatβs the beauty of working with scrapbook sketches.Β Itβs a place to start.Β And then once started, page elements can get moved around, added to or eliminated. I have been working a lot lately with CloseΒ To My Β Heart products. Β They have some terrific stamps and I love the way the ink, cardstock and patterned paper coordinates.Β Makes everything so easy.Β This layout features the βBrushedβ patterned paper and…

Hey everyone, Connie Nichol here today playing with Close To My Heart! I have to admit, although Iβm not very good at the pocket page style of scrapbooking like Picture My Life or Project Life, I totally LOVE the 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 cards that are part of this scrapbooking concept.Β Β Β The cards make wonderful embellishments for regular styles of scrapbook pages and one can use them to make all sorts of greeting cards in a snap.Β Today I want to feature some simple cards and a layout that I created using the Hopscotch Collection from Close to My Heart.Β All of the projects feature the Picture My Life cards.Β I think that this collection was recently retired, but you could use these ideas to make cards and layouts from any one of the Picture My Life card packs.Β Simply layer them on top of each other,…
Kim here from my super-HOT scrapbooking room! [Note to self: when the furnace diesβ¦air conditioning goes in at the same time as the new furnace!] Tomorrow we celebrate Canada Day from East to West and in between! Our big, beautiful country is so worthy of its 148th celebration! I felt it appropriate to create a scrapbook page in honour of Canada! As I mentionedβ¦it is hot in my house! I scrapbook on the upper level of our house & hot air rises! I had a hard time staying focused in the heat, so my layout is pretty simpleβ¦quick to put together! I started by using Coreβdinations cardstock for my base& mat. I cut the SIZZIX maple leaf for my Canada flag. I used DCWV cork sheets for the red components of the flagβ¦I love the texture! For the center of the flag I printed out the lyrics of the Canadian…
Today we welcome guest blogger Krista Ritskes, who has some wonderful Close to My Heart projects to share! Hello Canadian Scrapbooker fans! My name is Krista Ritskes and Iβve been a Close To My Heart Independent Consultant since 2007. Iβm excited for the chance to share my artwork and love of CTMH products here on the blog. I live in Oshawa, Ontario and am married to my Pharmacist hubby, Chris. We have 2 kids. Our daughter is thrilled to have just hit double digits and our son is 7. I discovered scrapbooking when my daughter was born and I had decided not to go back to my teaching job. When I was pregnant with my son, I found Close To My Heart and joined up, never having touched a stamp! Now, I can hardly create any sort of project without including ink and stamps. There are a lot of things…
Today, we welcome guest blogger Alison Krogsgaard, who creates wonderful projects with Close To My Heart! Hello there! Wow, I am beyond excited to have the privilege and honor to share a bit about myself and Close to My Heart on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog! I am a thirty-something year old mom to 5 year old twins, happily living in Whitecourt, Alberta, and if you can imagine it, youβd think I was one of my children with all the squealing, dancing and overall giddiness I experienced when I receivedΒ the invitation to be a guest blogger! For me, this is a huge honor! In addition to being a mom to busy twins (who also like to βscrapbookβ and βmake cardsβ), Iβm also a stay at home mom, and most recently a Close to My Heart consultant. Deep down, I had secretly always thought selling paper crafting supplies would be awesome (and…
