Hello, Connie Nichol here this morning with a layout featuring a number of supplies from my local dollar store. This was actually an extra project leftover from my recent article in the spring 2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. As part of the process for creating each of my articles, I spread out all relevant supplies and imagine the possibilities. My brain churns with ideas and I usually end up creating way more projects than there is space to publish. This is a very messy stage and the floor in both my craft room and the adjacent living room are usually covered with little piles of supplies. Ha! Just imagine a landscape of all sorts of dollar store craft items – pipe cleaners, pompoms, stickers, adhesives, gems and so on. One of the items that I really wanted to create something with was a package of mirror stickers from Forever…
Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a quick and easy scrapbook layout about my recent foray into yoga. Yoga is not something I’d ever done before, but I’m always open to trying new things. I wasn’t sure I’d like it but I did. Especially the Aromatherapy Deep Stretch and Relaxation class! In order to scrapbook this I snapped a picture of my new yoga mat and a screenshot of yoga appointments during my trial week. The screenshot was originally a very vibrant grass green so I adjusted the hue to purple in Photoshop Elements so that it would match my yoga mat and background paper. Super easy to do and made the whole scrapbooking process much easier and gentle on the eyes. I started with a beautiful piece of paper from the FabScraps Serenity line. The double-sided patterned papers from this line have soft muted colours and patterns featuring botanicals,…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout featuring stamps, dies and patterned paper from the Heartfelt Creations Backyard Blossoms collection. I adore the coneflowers and other blooms that are its focus. In addition to patterned paper, there are three stamp sets with matching dies that are part of the collection. I’ve used the set called ‘Blossoming Coneflower’. I stamped the images with Ranger archival black ink and coloured them with Chameleon pens. These pens were absolutely perfect for this project – I could achieve gradation of colour in the petals and leaves with a single pen. Supplies Used: Heartfelt Creations patterned paper, stamps and dies, MultiCraft flakes, glue, letter stickers and wooden butterfly, Chameleon Color Tone pens, Ranger ink, Glue Dots Adhesives, corrugated cardboard, doily. I used the Heartfelt Creations Backyard Blossoms collection and Blossoming Coneflower stamp with coordinating die. I stamped the Heartfelt Creations stamp using Ranger…
Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout featuring a number of products manufactured by MultiCraft and adhered together with various adhesives from Glue Dots. MultiCraft is based in Ottawa and strives to provide great quality craft items at reasonable prices. Some of the brand names under the MultiCraft umbrella are Forever in Time, Craft Medley and Color Factory. I find many of their products at my local dollar store so they are an excellent choice for frugal paper crafters. I started with some Forever in TIme Vintage Rose patterned cardstock. I moistened the top and bottom edges with a paintbrush and some water and rolled and ripped them to create a border. Here’s what the flip side of some of those patterned paper looks like. Many of them are glittered and are very pretty. decided that a guitar-themed layout needed a guitar-shaped embellishment so I printed out an electric…
Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of projects that use recycled maps. Maps and atlases are often free and are so much fun to add to paper crafting projects. There is a whole article on this in the Winter 2018/2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine – be sure to check out a bunch of other ideas using recycled maps. Maps are particularly well suited to travel layouts – the layout below uses a map of Germany I got from the AMA for the page background. I marked our route using embroidery thread and added a postcard and our entrance ticket to the castle. I always save memorabilia when travelling. Supplies: Paper House Productions Germany stickers, Simple Stories wood embellishments, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L photo corners and adhesive. Old maps also make great embellishments! Here’s a card featuring map pinwheels. Supplies: Stampin Up! patterned paper, ink, cardstock, embossing folder…
Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a selection of shimmery foiled Christmas cards I made with Therm O Web Foil-Mates and Fancy Foils from Gina K Designs. I am new to the idea of foiling, and I have to tell you that I am in LOVE. Although I was initially intimidated by the idea, it is so simple to create these beautiful cards. You just place the foil of your choice over a pre-printed toner sheet (the Foil-Mates), run it through a laminator and the magic happens. Here are a few cards that I whipped up – once you start laminating foils onto patterns, it’s hard to stop! Just add a bit of ribbon or a couple of flowers and you’re good to go. You can even use the used foil for a card background as I did in the last card. The used foils are too pretty to throw…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a quick scrapbook layout featuring Stampers Anonymous stamps and stencils. Stampers Anonymous makes some amazing rubber stamps, including the exclusive Tim Holtz collection. I recently returned from a vacation in Germany, and the Tim Holtz beer and pretzel blueprint stamps were absolutely perfect to accent one of many photographs I took while traveling. In Germany, beer is often cheaper than soft drinks or coffee. This is the Stampers Anonymous stamp set I used. The set measures 7 x 8.5 and there are four separate cling stamps. I stamped the mug of beer and the pretzel onto watercolor paper and coloured with a Tombow marker, using a wet paintbrush to spread the colour. Stampers Anonymous also has a set of 9 acrylic blocks that are perfect for mounting cling, foam or acrylic stamps. I really like the light weight of these and the large…
