Crazy Cats can Dream too!
Nicole here share this funny little card and an easy tutorial for a background. This card is inspired by my crazy cat. She ate my stamps…yep you saw that right. She ate my Upstream stamps.
I hauled out my Upstream stamps and Crazy Cats stamps and Sizzix Crazy Cat dies. I cut Dream with the Alphanumeric die on Sizzix leather paper. I stamped this crazy cat onto watercolor paper inked with Ranger Archival Jet Black.
I used Ranger Ink Distress Markers hickory smoke, carved pumpkin, twisted pumpkin and vintage photo to create my tabby crazy cat. Just like Miss Flurry… the stamp eating cat. I just got the Sizzix Crazy Cat dies so it was so great to not fussy cut.
Now that the Crazy Cat is quickly cut I can start the background. I used my Ranger Distress Ink to ink up my Upstream Koi Fish to stamp on watercolor paper. I was shown this easy technique by a friend. Simply stamp the image onto watercolor paper. Use the watercolor pen to trace and spread the ink. This creates a watery effect. The distress inks react with water causing it to blend beautifully.
Now that the background is created I wanted to experiment with my new Ranger Distress Crayons. I used a little gesso creating a shadow effect for the Crazy Cat. Once dry I applied hickory smoke distress crayon to the gesso and smudged. I can’t say I love it but you never know until you try. And trying is what it’s about.
I decided to cut the background out using the Sizzix Big Ticket die. I popped up the Crazy Cut with the Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L 3D Foam Squares. With a little Tombow glue I attached the Alphanumeric DREAM. For a little fun I attached my background to Core’dinations ColorCore Chalk Core paper! Oh how I love this paper.
The shadow is growing on me. The Crazy Cat tabby worked out well with the distress markers.
Leather paper is thick and durable. Yet you can still cut easily with the Thinlit dies. It truly is a Dream to work with.
The watercolour technique is fantastic. By stamping and brushing you can achieve this stunning effect.
Pulling all the layers together create this dream like state for this diabolical Crazy Cat.
Thanks for popping in and taking a look. I hope you get inspired to create your own background. This is a quick way to make a background by using your stamps.
