Hi friends! Noreen Smith from OrganizedandCreativeMom.com here, sharing two layouts based on a single sketch featuring Harvest Delight and Wicked Cute collection by Creative Memories. As I mentioned last month, I create sketches to share on my own blog and YouTube Channel, but I ‘m always looking for new inspiration for my scrapbook pages. Did you know that every week, Creative Memories posts a Round-Up of sketches based on the layouts and projects shared that week on their blog? What an incredible, ongoing source for new ideas!
I was itching to scrapbook as I couldn’t wait to play with the new fall and Halloween collections – Harvest Delight and Wicked Cute (just two more reasons to love fall!)… …and I wanted a fast and easy sketch that could fit three photos. I really liked this Creative Memories Sketch – I loved that it incorporated borders as part of the design – but the photos were the wrong orientation for the photos I was planning to use. No worries! It’s easy to switch up a sketch to make it work for you! For my first layout with Harvest Delight, I had a few photos of favorite Fall foods that I wanted to use, but they were all vertically oriented. So, I just rotated the sketch 90° to the left so that the two horizontal photos became spots for vertical photos! Then I cropped my third vertical photo down to a 4” x 4” in order to fit – an easy trick I use often!
I used the paisley and plaid papers for my background and matted my photos on some Peacock colored cardstock. Then I added two borders – a cute Picket Fence punched from the golden dandelion paper and a row of lovely Songbirds punched from the striped paper. Half of a Harvest Delight Variety Mat Card, some coordinating Stickers and three clusters of Foiled and Embossed Embellishments finished off the layout. I love the colors and patterns in this collection so much – it totally says “Fall” to me, and it works with the photos of the yummy Fall flavours I wanted to save and share perfectly! For the next layout I wanted to use some Halloween photos from when my sons were very young (they really WERE wicked cute then!) so the new Halloween collection was perfect. I had two vertical and one horizontal photo, so this time I rotated the sketch 180° AND mirrored or flipped it, placing the 6” x 4” horizontal on the bottom right-hand corner.
I used the aqua polka dots and the orange plaid as my background papers and matted the photos on Aqua cardstock for a softer look. I added three borders to this layout – a White cardstock Picket Fence and two rows of sweet Pumpkins! Banner shapes cut from other papers in the collection and a few coordinating Stickers were all I needed to complete this version of the layout. I think this is collection is such a fresh change for Halloween and works so well for photos of younger children who might not be wearing those scary monster costumes in your photos! I hope seeing how a sketch can be switched up gives you a few tricks to remember next time you see a sketch that you like but doesn’t quite work with the photos that you have. Have fun adapting and changing things to fit YOUR needs!
Happy Scrapping!
