Hello everyone, Kelly Klapstein here today playing with some of my Kelly Creates products to bring you a cute little Halloween card. When it comes to Halloween, I am more into the ‘cute’ spooky projects than the scary ones. Let’s just say I have an overactive imagination and avoid anything gory!
For this Halloween “Boo” card, I’ve included a template for you to trace and draw a bat along with practicing hand lettering.
– CLICK HERE – to download your copy. I used the following Kelly Creates supplies:
Deluxe Lettering Kit Black Fineliners
Bullet Tip Metallic Jewel “Gold” pen
Project pad
You’ll also need scissors, adhesive, and a paper trimmer.
Step 1 – Download and print the PDF template. Cut out the bat and trace it onto black card stock with a pencil.
Step 2 – Cut out the bat from the black card stock in Kelly Creates Project Pad. The Project Pad has silky smooth white, kraft and black card stock, and I used all three for this card.
Step 3 – Use the tracing template to practice drawing the words “Boo to You!”
Step 4 – With the Kelly Creates Gold Metallic Jewel Bullet Tip Pen, draw “Boo” on the black bat and add extra details, like a face and outline.
Step 5 – Cut a white piece of paper for the card front and pencil in “to you” near the bottom. Trace over with a Kelly Creates Black Fineliner and then erase the pencil lines.
Step 6 – Use a ruler with the Black Fineliner to add lines around the bottom edges of the white cardstock.
Step 7 – Cut out the card base from the Kraft card stock in the Kelly Creates Project Pad. My card base measures larger than the white piece because I drew a spider web at the top.
Step 8 – To make the web stand out, I added some bold black lines with the Kelly Creates Fine Brush pen (in the Deluxe Lettering kit).
Step 9 – Adhere all the pieces together and BOO! your card is done!
You can actually use this bat template in many different ways: on a scrapbook layout, as a name card for a Halloween meal, wrapped around a chocolate bar, or as a tag for a treat bag.
See! Halloween hand lettering doesn’t have to be so scary!
Breathe. Write. Relax.
