Hi there, Connie Nichol here with my interpretation of the January sketch in Creative Scrapbooker’s Sketchy Challenge.
Here’s the sketch. As you can see, I used it as starting point, but sort of flipped it and changed the circles to other embellishments. Sketches make the whole scrapbooking process much faster for me.
I used Close to My Heart‘s Urban Paper Packet and Complements for the project. This is great boy line – very masculine colours and patterns. The Complements are a variety of stickers and chipboard die cuts to embellish the page.
To add a little more fun, I took a wet paint brush and flicked a little blue watercolour paint on the background page. There is already some blue droplets on this particular patterned paper, which gave me the idea to add more! At the end, most of it ended up being covered with my photograph, but it’s just another idea for how to use your watercolour paints. It’s fun to play with paint.
Supplies: Paper, watercolor paint, twine and embellishments from Close to my Heart, Brother sewing machine, shipping tags from Staples.

What a great idea using water paint as part of the background! Fabulous way to bring in another colour if you have no paper or embellishments. I’ll steal this idea for sure!
Love this layout with the Urban paper! I’ve shared this with my facebook ladies!
