Stamping with your Dies by Cathie Allan Mediums and tools that multi-task always have a special place in my creative heart. I totally enjoy looking at my creative tools, toys and mediums from various sides to see what I can get them to do for me other than the βintended useβ suggested by the manufacturer. For this blog post I decided to play with the βHeart Clasp Dieβ from Art Impressions. This die makes a lovely wrap for a card but by joining two of these dies I was able to wrap my scrapbook page and then of course wrapped my photo. I then took this die a βstamp stepβ forward by applying ink to the backside of the die I thus was able to use it as a stamp. Look at that die βgoβ!! To begin I made the Art Impressions, βHeart Clasp Dieβ perform as a stamp. Apply…

SUCH A HANDSOME βDEXTERβ PUPPY! By Cathie Allan Here is a quick and fun layout using some βtimeless stamping toolsβ.Β I kept the steps for this βaltered scrapbook layoutβ simple and fast. After stamping the βLine Backgroundβ stamp from Frogβs Whiskers Ink several times on our Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock (my favorite cardstock for my projects) in Clearsnap ColorBox Blackbird, Fluid Chalk ink I added super quick coloring with my Tombow pens. Quess what? I have been stamping a long, long time and my Tombow pens are years old and still are full of ink and ready to go. The capping system is so good on these particular pens that you will get every bit of ink out of them so long as you put the caps back on. I love this! I did not do any βfancy coloringβ I just added color. After that I used my Clearsnap ColorBox…

When I walked into the Β Clearsnap booth at CHA, there was a special person there waiting to say Hi! Do you recognize that happy face and wave? Β Yes, it is Cathie Allan, sharing her stamping magic and love of inks in the Clearsnap show floor classroom. At the end of this post, you will find a video with Cathie ‘LIVE” doing a demo for us in the booth. There is good reason for Cathie Allan’s exuberance and energy…the Clearsnap products are awesome! There are 8 new pigment ink colours and new Cat’s eye Crafter’s Colorbox inks too. New Colorbox Chalk ink pads were on display as well. A new pigment inks Petal Point was released under the Β Teresa Collins name, called “Fierce.” Teresa Collins also has created a line of wood mounted stamps: There are beautiful new colours of Colorbox Premium dye ink in full size and minis by…
Faux Watercolour Loveliness and Pigment Ink Oh, the wonders, versatility and unending twisted ways I can play with pigment ink. I am sharing with you an altered page that is a βjump offβ from a class that I taught at CHA in Anaheim in the Clearsnap booth. The class was presented as a shape card but of course what was most important was βnot the projectβ but the ideas and the techniques we used to take white cardstock and turn it into something βmarvelousβ. Yes, this was white cardstock when I began and those lovely, wispy, very watercolor looking branches in the background have been stamped with ColorBox, pigment ink by Clearsnap. Yes, I am combining my pigment ink with βTop Bossβ clear embossing ink so the stamped images have that βwatercolor feelβ. At times as I am creating this look it is almost like I am erasing the image…

Let There Be Projects, Lots & Lots of Projects – by Cathie Allan The past two classes that I have been teaching for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine incorporate some of my newest and βof courseβ most favorite techniques β¦ why, because I get to use stamps/stencils and ink, of course and because βthey are my newestβ and new is always captivating. These techniques are soΒ βmulticraftableβ that I have been non stop, creating projects using the ideas that I shared in those classes since I made the originals. A huge part of the joy of sharing new ideas is when someone in the class looks at me with βeyes wide open with inky possibilityβ as they realize just how beautifully easy stamping and βsmearing inkβ can be. One treasured moment from this year happened when a young gal came back to me after the class (she was on the crop floor…

Finding βYourβ Happy Place – by Cathie Allan A few weeks ago I posted a few photos on Instagram showing a project that I was working on. I had some βbrand newβ stencils and stamps from Magenta and I just could not wait to dive into a project. Not knowing what it should be β¦ βQue sera seraβ (if you donβt remember this song, you are younger than me, lol), I simply began playing in my art journal book. The products I used are shown in the following photo. Of course I was using my trusty pigment inkpads from Clearsnap and I threw in some stamping with white acrylic paint to get added texture. The project of course grew from what I shared on Instagram and it is now one of my projects that makes my βstampy, stencilly, inky heartβ smile. I added a gorgeous βmulti-sizedβ dragonfly stencil and the…
