Happy Tuesday Canadian Scrapbookers! Welcome to my blog post showing a little of what is on my scrap table. I picked up some papers and stickers from the Simple Stories fallΒ collection called βPumpkin SpiceβΒ When I picked them up,Β it hadnβt snowed yet, and I was feeling the urge to scrapbook some of my fall pictures. Here is what I came up with: Β Β Thankful for Sunsets SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Simple Stories; Journaling Pen: Creative Memories Β You Warm My Heart SUPPLIES: Β Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Simple Stories; Embossing Powder, Mica Flakes: Stampendous; Chipboard: Southern Ridge Trading Co.; Trim: May Arts Can I just say how much I love not very good camera phone selfies with that sunburst? Happy Tuesday everyone! I am wrapping my head around the fact that fall is upon us and summer 2015 is in the books. As always, we hit the ground running at the beginning of September with the start up of all our activities. With summer fading fast, I really enjoyed pulling out a few favourite summer memories and getting them onto scrapbook paper! I hope you enjoy them too. The first is a layout I created using a photo from summer 2014. I love the look of uncertain amazement on my daughterβs face as she realized that the dragonfly actually came to rest on her outstretched finger! It was a perfect symbol of hope and light for her as she wrestled with feelings of unsettledness about our impending move. Supplies Used: Patterned Paper, stickers: Kaisercraft; Punches: Creative Memories, Stampinβ Up!; Letters: American Crafts; Die Cuts: Heidi Swapp; Acrylic Shape: Harmonie…

Ever complete a project that when you look at as a completed item, you wonder what took you so long to create it? Thatβs exactly what I thought when I was finished this tag! I didnβt realize that it would be such a complicated tag when I started, so I didnβt take photos along the way. But I would like to give a little explanation for some of the things I did to create this tag. Supplies Used- Dies and Embossing folder: Sizzix; Inks and Embossing Powder: Clearsnap ColorBox; Patterned Paper: Prima Marketing; Ribbon: May Arts; Metal Leaf; Lβadore Β The background: I embossed some white cardstock with a Sizzix embossing folder, then sprayed it with some Clearsnap ColorBox Spritz Spray (spun sugar). Then I used my brayer to apply some pigment ink over top (Clearsnap ColorBox Old Rose) and heat embossed it. Then I adhered it to a piece…
Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! I have been intrigued and inspired by art journals lately. Although I am a true novice at this craft, I have been dabbling a tiny bit and learning a few techniques and about some of the main mediums. I am a dive in and give it a try kind of girl, so donβt look to me for authority on βhow toβ and βyou shouldβ. If you do, you will be disappointed. BUT, if you are looking for someone to give you permission to try it out, explore and see what can happen, then I am your support team. Here are the steps to my first creation, where I figured if playing on paper and tucking it away in a book was good, then how awesome would it be to create something for the wall. Go ahead, and give it a try! What is the worst that can…
Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! Happy Β DAY AFTER St. Patrickβs Day!!!! To honor the 25% of my genetic makeup that is Irish, I decided to create a St. Patrickβs day layout for the blog. But because I am the curious sort, I had to find out why this day dedicated to leprechaun tricks and green beer even exists. Turns out St. Patrick was a 5th century fellow who had some rather interesting adventures! British by birth, he was captured by pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. Good fortune smiled on him, and he escaped 6 years later, after hearing voices tell him a ship was waiting to take him home. He became a cleric like his father and grandfather before him and returned to Ireland to minister to the people there. I guess they loved that because he was made a saint and he is celebrated with some solemnity there.…
I am drawn to books like a thirsty traveler to an oasis. I read every night before bed and if I canβt for some reason, I have a difficult time settling into sleep.Β I love the tactile feel of the pages and have not yet adapted to digital formats like my husband.Β I love the look of text flowing across a page and disappearing into another time and place. It took several years of marriage before I could convince my husband that when I was reading, I was βdoing somethingβ and that he did not need to leap to my rescue by pointing out other entertainments or βthings to do.β I come by it honestly. My mom is a reader and in fact has a couple of rooms in her house filled with books. I remember her getting a box of books every month from some far off library, and…
These past week, I remembered. I remembered what I have no first hand knowledge about. I remembered brave men and women I have never met. I celebrated the safety and freedom of my life. Today, my heart overflows with gratitude for the bravery and sacrifice of others. Thank-you. A few years ago, we were able to spend Canada Day in Ottawa. What an experience that was! I loved the ceremony and the pride and joy swelling from the crowds. I bet you are wondering why I am reminiscing about Canada Day on Remembrance Day. It is simply because we stopped at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on that day. I guess I just felt the need to look at those photos again. And remember. Lest we forgetβ¦ Supplies Used: Cardstock- Bazzill Basics Paper Β and Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock; Patterned Paper, Stickers- Graphic 45; Dies- Spellbinders; Phoomph under photos and…
Hello Canadian Scrapbookers!!!!!!Β It is my extreme pleasure to join you on this lovely Tuesday to share a little inspiration with you. If you know me at all from the magazine, you know me more as a writer than as a scrapbook designer, and true to my role with the magazine, I have some words to share that I hope will inspire you every bit as much as the scrapbook page that I will share with you! Hereβs the thing. I have had a self-imposed creatively dry spring and summer and have not touched my scrapbook supplies since about January.Β I am pleased to say some wonderful things have happened in that time. My family decided to build a new home and I pulled back from my work with the magazine to focus my energy there. I am a VERY messy scrapbooker and once we had our house listed I…
