What an absolute treat it was to have Els Van de Burgt from Elizabeth Craft Designs on our web show Technique Tasters #113 – Creating Backgrounds for Cards. Els is the owner of Elizabeth Craft Designs and has been creating, teaching and spreading the love of paper crafts for years. On today’s show Els pulled out a number of her very own products including cardstock, dies, stamps and adhesives. Along with Tim Holtz for Ranger oxide inks and Sakura Pigma Micron PN pens to create this beautiful card. Oxide Ink Effect The cool oxide water effect you see in the background is all the rage right now. It looks rather intimidating, however, as you watch the video you will discover that it is really rather simple to create and fool proof! The other cool fact about this technique is that NO two creations look the same. Products Used To create…

Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. We had a lot of celebrating going on in my family this year. Our oldest daughter has graduated from the University of Alberta. Creative Memories Cap and Gown Collection provides a lot of inspiration for layouts and cards. This collection also has a coordinating album – which I love. Β Super quick and super easy. Β In this layout I used the Variety Mat Pack to create a faux pocket page.Β  The only additional item I used was Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Creative Photo corners.Β  I adhered stickers on cardstock and fussy cut out the stickers and mounted them on foam squares to create some dimension. Β You did it card I like the challenge of trying to create fun cards from Variety Mat Packs and stickers. I layered the 4×6 card on the 4.5×6.5 card and used stickers, Scrapbook Adhesives…

I used my flower shaping tools from Heartfelt Creations to shape the floral images that I fussy cut from patterned paper.I then added Prills using my Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Dual tip glue pen, for a tiny bit of texture. Supply List: Heartfelt Creations- Under the Sea Collection patterned paper Β amd Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit Close To My Heart- Cardstock Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L- Extreme Double Sided Tape, 3D Foam Squares, EZ Runner, Glue Pen May Arts Ribbon- Yellow Burlap String Clearsnap Smooch- Yellow and Teal Prills- Gold Buttons Tim Holtz- Gold Outline Alpha Stickers Ranger Stickles Echo Park- Mini Alphas Doily Photo by: Babineau I free hand cut the seaweed pieces on the…

Hello everyone – Kerry Engel here! With the start of a new month – brings us our monthly sketch challenge. Here is July’s sketch… Six photos on one page! This is a great layout for telling a visual story. Clustering the pics tightly on the left and keeping the right side empty balances the design. Succulent Summer LayoutMy daughter and I have a lot of succulents. The Simple Stories Summer Days Collection was perfect for our springtime ritual. I created the β€œsucculent” title and white border (based on the sketch) on my cutting system. I filled in the flowers with different papers from the collection.Β I stained the title and edged things with green Clearsnap ColorBox ink to finish it off. Supplies: Simple Stories Summer Days collection, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Clearsnap ColorBox ink. Art Journal PageThis page is just layers and layers of Ranger oxide inks. I colored the cut…

Hello everyone, Kerry Engel here with one sketch – three different projects.Β This is a good sketch for a big or dominant photo that really tells your story. The curvy diagonal lines create movement and energy.Β Supplies: Β Creative Memories Cap and Gown Collection, Clearsnap ColorBox ink and embossing powder, Β Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Stampin’ Up! gold thread, Studio Calico brad. An old Colleague of mine posted her graduation photos on Facebook one day and I instantly had an urge to scrap them. The Cap and Gown collection from Creative Memories has several β€œ2107” embellishments but it’s really a versatile collection. The colors work really well with vintage photos.Β  I glammed it up a bit with gold embossing powder and shiny brads and thread. The papers held up well to mix media techniques. And the coordinating album is a really classy. Β Supplies: Donna Salazar for Β Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Β Denim Art Journal and…

I have wanted to create this layout for some time. This photo was the inspiration. The young man on the left hand side is my Dad, and is you look closely he’s holding a bunny in his ball glove. I am so glad that I waited until I had the Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Oxide Inks to play with. Here is how I added the rust like colouring to the background and the largest rusty photo mat. I used watercolour paper and Ranger Β Distress Oxide Inks to create this rust like background. To do this you need a non stick craft mat. Stamp the ink directly onto the craft mat, spray with water and mix with your fingers. Then dip the paper into the ink/water mixture. Dry with a heat gun. Then do the same with the next colour of ink. Dry again with a heat gun. Do the…

Hello, Nicole here and I am so excited to share my new journal pages using Stabilo.Β  I was sent a set of Β Woody 3 in 1 pencils to create with.Β  These are new to me so I was very curious how they would handle my love of watercoloring.Β  They far surpassed my expectations!Β  They are smooth to put on these old pages, creamy enough to blend and don’t washout when watercoloring.Β  Check out my quick and easy tutorial for stamping and watercoloring with Stabilo Woody 3 in 1 pencils.I prepared my old book pages with Ranger’s Clear Gesso.Β  Once dry I stamped the Garden Flower stamps randomly then started adding colour with the Stabilo Woody pencils.Β  You can easily move the colour around by smearing with your fingers. This is my first time so I wanted to try the pencils in different ways.Β  I tried blending and they blend beautifully.Β  Watercoloring…
