Hello again Creative Scrapbookers! Itβs Kim here, Iβve been working on another Sketchy Challenge this weekend and canβt wait to share with you. I was inspired by Creative Scrapbooker Magazineβs April sketch. I stayed pretty true to the sketch, however I opted not to use circles as the design shape.Β Sometimes the pictures dictate how I move forward with a layout, sometimes the papers I want to use. I knew before sitting down to play with this sketch, I wanted to play with Wild Whispers βTalk Foodie To Meβ collection. The colours of the collection and the whimsy of the products simply make me smile! The patterned paper I used feels grounded with the straight lines of the photos. I am in love with all the fun embellishments in this collection, check them out on my layout! I used way more embellishments than I usually might, but they all played so…
Good Morning and WELCOME March! It sure doesnβt feel like spring is around the corner but we have turned the page on February and thatβs enough for me! Headβs upβ¦todayβs project share is not very spring like either!Β I choose to work with our January Sketchy Challenge and some fun products I have in my stash, old & new! If you prefer to share on Facebook, we have a Sketchy Challenge Group you are welcome to join! I stayed pretty true to the sketch, with the diagonal stack of photos and snowflake embellishments, then I let intuition guide the placement of my title and other embellishments. Carta Bellaβs βLet it Snowβ collection was perfect for my snowy pictures. I used the papers to mat my layout and pictures. They add the perfect amount of contrast and interest to my white Bazzill cardstock base. The Carta Bella stickers, chipboard and enamel dots…
Soft pastels and summer vibes. Hello everyone, Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. The Creative MemoriesΒ Blend and Bloom collection includes patterned paper, embellishments, and stickers that can be layered to create subtle, soft,”Β summery” pages. My Kuaui photos in this layout have a soft, over exposed finish and they softly whispered βBlend and Bloomβ. I combined both the blue and green paper packages and was inspired by the February sketchy challenge. I just adore the laser cut leaves. You can use either side of the leaf-they are slightly different colors. Both colors combine perfectly and mimics the subtle shades of a summer garden. There are several different leaf shapes that look great as a single focal point or combined to create a garden or bouquet. I crunched up the bottom right corner of my paper so I could tuck in a leaf vine. Keeping items close together…
Hello and Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share using Creative Scrapbooker Magazineβs December Sketchy Challenge. Decemberβs wreath sketch was once again designed by the talented Kerry Engel and easily spoke to our holiday brains as a backdrop to holiday pictures. My brain quickly went to winter, Christmas, green, red and gold when I initially saw the designβ¦thatβs when my hand went up and said NO! I like to challenge the sketches by thinking outside of my gut feelings. I had all kinds of winter themed product on my desk and couldnβt get my brain away from a Christmas wreath vision, so I cleared it ALL off my table and pulled out the first collection of paper I had that was NOT Christmas. It just happened to be Simple Storiesβ Forever Fall collection. First off, I LOVE autumn and I LOVE autumn colours. My brain started chugging…
Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! I’m excited to be back on the blog today sharing with you my last post of the year and to end the year, Iβve created a Christmas themed scrapbook layout. To kick-start the idea for my layout, I used our December Sketch which was designed by Kerry Engel. With the sketch in hand, I set off to create my Christmas Memories Scrapbook Layout which features the Christmas Collection from Carta BellaΒ Β Ink from Ranger Ink and adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Youβll want to grab a cup of your favourite holiday beverage as I share with you how I created my layout at home. In the bottom right side of the circle, I layered in elements out of the Christmas Ephemera, Frames & Tags and the Paper Pack from Carta Bella. The photo is cut down to 3 Β½β x 3 Β½β. To finish off the…
OMGosh! I am late getting to our Sketchy Challenge this month, but have some fun products to share! I feel the change of seasons in my bones and am already missing lost daylight hours! Thankfully autumn comes with crisp, sunny days that allow us to enjoy the colours of the season. Autumn colour ALWAYS puts a smile on my face! That being said, I used this monthβs sketch to celebrate Autumn! I was really pleased with the end result, though it took some messing around to figure out where it was going! Iβm really happy with the products I decided to work with, they complement each other well! Echo Park Paper Co.βs Celebrate Autumn collection was used for the paper components of my layout! The colours, patterns, and words worked well with my end vision! Some βquietβ color was added to the white CSM Super StockΒ with the designer stencil and…

Hello everyoneΒ – Kim Gowdy here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Do you know what I LOVE? Sketches! Did you know that Creative Scrapbooker Magazine has a fun Sketchy Challenge every month? Thatβs 12 sketches a year for as long as I can rememberβ¦saved between a NEW and OLD galleryβ¦thereβs a lot of inspiration in these galleries! Why 2 galleries? Technology! Our older gallery is no longer βstableβ β¦what that means is itβs a great place for viewing but NOT for uploading new content! So, although todayβs layout share will find a home in our newest gallery, donβt forget to visit sketches from days gone by, they donβt expire! The March 2018 Sketchy Challenge was a double page layout! A great sketch for story telling! I only had one problemβ¦I havenβt done a double page in so long [mainly because my work space is too full!] so I challenged…
Hello! Kim here with a quick layout sharing that was inspired by the Creative Scrapbooker February Sketchy Challenge. I did a very literal take on the sketch; but had so much fun doing it! This silly subject needed bold colours and contrast! Instead of using papers, my back ground was made using Dylusions paint and the Ranger gel plates. I started with piece of Creative Scrapbooker Superstock, this 110lb card-stock can handle the mixed media product! The Ranger gel plates come in four very useable sizes! I took the small rectangle and masked off the area I didnβt want painted. I added my paints, spread with a brayer and made patterns with a Dina Wakey stamp and a Ranger texture tool. My swirls are done with an Art Foamie stamp and white acrylic paint! My bold title and hashtags are done with American Craft Thickers. My journaling was done with…
Good morning and happy Monday! Kim here with a quick birthday card share today! This month I challenged myself to use the April Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for a card. Even before choosing my products, I knew I wanted to make the triangle accent from stamps! I created a paper mask from my Impression Obsession stamped image so I could easily overlap my stamped design making it look like one continuous image β I love how it turned out! I took a black marker and ruler to divide the two sides. I created three layered areas using stamps, stencil and Clearsnap Chalk ink! I fussy cut the bird image and layered it with the Impression Obsession die cut pine boughs and a little black tread. The βHappy Birthdayβ sentiment was a perfect finishing touch! Thanks for taking the time to check out my card, try one of our…
