Sketchy Challenge

Hey everyone, hope your summer has been great to date. I have a quick share today, a card I made, inspired by the June Sketchy Challenge. As I often do, I rotated the sketch. Just by rotating or mirroring a sketch, you can have so many different layouts from the same starting point…give it a go! My desk was too messy to take on a full page layout, yet somehow this card took as much time to figure out! I used cardstock, stamps, ink, markers and dies from Stampin’ Up. If you weren’t aware, their quality dies are made by Sizzix, so they can be used for years and years to come! Everything is held together by various types of Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L products. I used their tape runner, foam squares, photo corners and Dual Tip Glue Pen. Thanks for joining me on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog today.…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim gowdy here today! Just a quick blog post sharing my take on the May Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein. I used the awesome Coffee Talk collection from Heartfelt Creations to pull my layout together. I loved this collection form the first time I saw it, especially the stamps and dies! As always, I LOVE playing with these sketches…especially when I am in a creative funk! Other products used to complete my page: twine from May Arts Ribbon, India Ink from Clearsnap, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, older Stampin’ Up felt flowers &Β brads and unknown vellum. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek. Be sure to find your way to our Sketchy Gallery to see lots more inspiration from this month’s sketch and all previous months. Hey everyone…Kim here, sharing my take on our April Sketch.Β  This month’s sketch is a very basic, graphic design that could be used over and over…and look different every time! I love that! My four square grid is a bit β€œlost” in the background, but if you look you’ll see it! I used products from Heartfelt Creation’s collection, β€œItaliana Riviera”. These papers, stamps and dies are stunning! They were so fun to play with. Check out this detail shot to see the layers. Some of the layers were made with the stamp, dies and Clearsnap Chalk inks. The other layers were created by β€œfussy” cutting from a second sheet of paper and layering on top of the same image using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares.Β  Heartfelt Creation’s Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit was used to add dimension to my cuts. I was so pleased with how the details looked on…

Hello! Kim here, just logging in to share my take on this month’s Sketchy Challenge! This month, for the most part, I stayed true to Kelly’s sketch. As always, a sketch is a fun place to start creating from…especially if your mojo is on hiatus. I pulled out my “A Year to Remember” collection from Creative Memories, and had fun going through the many different embellishments to find the ones that I felt worked best. I really like the colour palette of this collection, and look forward to pulling it out again. Here’s a detail shot of the banners. I cut between each banner, so I could add some texture and movement to it. I also curled and distressed the edge of some of my paper…I love texture and layers, but still need my pages to be flat enough to fit in my albums. Another layer I have added but…

Hello again! It’s Kim here with my take on the February Sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein. I was inspired to rotate the sketch as shown and from there just started to play until I felt I was done! I love how it turned out, though my husband doesn’t see any similarity to the sketch…LOL! The papers and embellishments are from Bo Bunny’s Believe collection. I was hesitant at first to get this collection of papers, as I wasn’t sure if the theme would work for my style of scrapbooking. Β Once I opened up the papers, stickers and die cuts I was pleased to find LOTS that I was comfortable working with…I love the colours and whimsy so much. The products that don’t β€œwork” for me will easily be altered and adapted for my needs.Β So many inspirational sayings and thoughts, I can’t wait to play with this paper collection again. I…

Hi there, Connie Nichol here today with a romantic scrapbook layout inspired by the February sketch in the CSM Sketchy Gallery. Here’s the sketch this month. Β I ended up only using the idea of a heart tucked behind the photo, but it was a good place to start. I started with the most gorgeous piece of patterned paper from Heartfelt Creations Peacock and Paisley line. Β The colours and patterns are simply beautiful. I stamped a romantic stamp from Quietfire Design onto one of the patterned Heartfelt Creations journalling cards. Β It was a perfect embellishment for a wedding photo. For the finishing touches, the title ‘Always and Forever’, heart and butterflies were cut from Quietfire Design digital cutting files using a Sizzix Eclips 2 and the calligraphic heart is a metal die from Β the Calligraphic Elements 1 set fromΒ Elizabeth Craft Designs. Β  Head over to the Quietfire Design blog to see…

Hello! Kim here with a layout I worked on after Christmas. I used our January Sketchy Challenge, designed by Kelly Klapstein. It was a great jumping point to get back in the groove after a creative hiatus over the holidays. For my projects I used the Bo Bunny β€œWhiteout” Collection along with elements from the co-ordinating Ephemera pack available with the collection. It was all part of a monthly kit I purchase from Scrap Shotz out of Calgary. I laughed when I saw Kelly’s layout…she used the same collection! I promise this was by coincidence [great minds think alike…] Here is a quick detail shot of some of the yumminess found in this collection…a little glitter for winter layouts is perfect! The word stickers are older Tim Holtz idea-ology stickers that never go out of style. For my journalling I used a Micron Pigment Marker by Sakura. These markers come…

Hello everyone! Kelly Klapstein here to share my take on the January sketch Challenge. Our family spent a wonderful 3 days of the Christmas break in Jasper, so I snapped lots of photos and wanted to scrapbook them.Β  I love this shot of my son and his girlfriend, hockey sticks in hand, skating on the outdoor lake with the mountains in the background. I used the new BoBunny winter collection “White Out.” It is such an awesome collection for any winter layout! The collection comes with papers, stickers, ephemera, die cuts, buttons, etc. all matching to make designing the layout really easy. For my title, I hand lettered the word “Frozen” with a Tombow Dual Brush pen and then scanned it and cut it out with my Brother ScanNCut machine. I also designed this cute snowflake heartΒ  with the Brother ScanNCut and cut it out from Canadian Scrapbooker SuperStock.…

Happy Sunday! Another Christmas card share from our design team. Today’s card was created by Kim Gowdy using all Stampin’ Up products. Kim also used our December sketch as inspiration for this card. Let’s take a peek to see what fun products Kim used for her card: Visions of Santa stamp set and Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack! Hope your inspired to try some new products and and to use our sketches! Keep checking in for more Christmas cards designed by our team!

Kim Gowdy here on the blog today, happily sharing my layout inspired by the August Sketchy Challenge. I have been struggling to find time in my craft room these past months…but stay focused to get ALL the sketches completed! The August sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein was very graphic. I swayed from that aspect of the design but otherwise kept pretty true to it. My layout is pretty simple using papers, stickers and ephemera from Fancy Pant’s “ME-OLOGY” collection. The paw print, cut behind the pictures, was done on my Cricut Explore using Close To My Heart’s Artistry cartridge. I also used Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L and the little wood veneer dogs were from Studio Calico. By the way; the topic of my layout…TRUE STORY! Go forth and scrapbookΒ withΒ our sketches. They are always available in our Sketchy Gallery. On time or late…we LOVE to see what you share.
