Sketchy Challenge, a Honey Bee Layout

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here, hope you are settling into a great summer routine and finding time to enjoy these lovely, long days! I love the extra energy the sunshine seems to gift us, I find time to enjoy so much more, and that includes scrapbooking. Even after a busy day, I am ready for an hour or two to unwind in my craft room. This week I pulled out the March Sketchy Challenge again. My first layout with this sketch can be found on the Facebook Sketchy Gallery. I took the scale down to an 8.25 x 8.25, and believe it or not I used an instruction book that came with a recent purchase. Hello everyone! Kim here, happy to be on the Creative Scrapbooker blog again. Have you seen the “FOILED AGAIN” article in the spring issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine? It’s so awesome and so on trend! Foils are everywhere in the scrapbooking industry right now and so many ways to get the look. You can buy papers that are foiled, you can mimic the look with metallic embossing powders, there are lots of foiled stickers available and of course you can buy many products that use foil sheets. My project was inspired by this feature article from the magazine. I love to add foil finishes to my projects with Therm-O-Web products. They have so many options for you to control the foiled look of your project, from toner sheets, adhesives, pens and transfer gels…and crazy amounts of foil colours to choose from! Therm O Web Gina K. Designs Foil-Mates Christmas Cards

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a selection of shimmery foiled Christmas cards I made with Therm O Web Foil-Mates and Fancy Foils from Gina K Designs. I am new to the idea of foiling, and I have to tell you that I am in LOVE. Although I was initially intimidated by the idea, it is so simple to create these beautiful cards. You just place the foil of your choice over a pre-printed toner sheet (the Foil-Mates), run it through a laminator and the magic happens. Here are a few cards that I whipped up – once you start laminating foils onto patterns, it’s hard to stop! Just add a bit of ribbon or a couple of flowers and you’re good to go. You can even use the used foil for a card background as I did in the last card. The used foils are too pretty to throw…

OMGosh! I am late getting to our Sketchy Challenge this month, but have some fun products to share! I feel the change of seasons in my bones and am already missing lost daylight hours! Thankfully autumn comes with crisp, sunny days that allow us to enjoy the colours of the season. Autumn colour ALWAYS puts a smile on my face! That being said, I used this month’s sketch to celebrate Autumn! I was really pleased with the end result, though it took some messing around to figure out where it was going! I’m really happy with the products I decided to work with, they complement each other well! Echo Park Paper Co.’s Celebrate Autumn collection was used for the paper components of my layout! The colours, patterns, and words worked well with my end vision! Some “quiet” color was added to the white CSM Super Stock with the designer stencil and…

Seriously! Have you tried foiling yet? I did! I LOVE it… Makes me think of changing the words to Kate Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” song…sing with me! I tried to foil… and I liked it! I think you should try it too, but we’ll let Kate stick to song writing! LOL! Check out these SIMPLE foiled cards! Now, I’ll share some eye candy and explain a bit of what’s going on in each photo. Hello Everyone! Karen Ellis here, back from a fabulous weekend at ScrapFest in Kitchener, Ontario. Cathie Allan and I taught some “Technique Tasters” in the Creative Scrapbooker booth and I wanted to show you what I taught here. Cause it was Groovin! I, with the help of Art-C, wanted to get the Groove Tool in the hands of our Scrapbookers – have as many people try it out and see for themselves if it’s a tool for them. It’s a fun, hand-held battery operated painting, inking and distressing tool that applies ink and paint to projects with ease! There are 4 different attachments: a brush tool for painting, a foam attachment for inking and two sand paper heads – fine and course for distressing. Pretty Cool!
