Happy Friday! Didn’t we just turn the page on June? How did it get to be the 9th already! Before you know it, the kids will be done school and holidays begin! Do you have some big summer plans or do you prefer “stay-cations” – hanging out in the sprinkler and enjoying what your neighbourhood has to offer?
I might clean my craft room on a rainy day!!! Speaking of craft rooms, let’s peek into Melanie Bennett’s space, her story will make you appreciate how powerful our hobby is!
I love my crafty space, it’s my place to decompress. I was diagnosed with MS several years ago and turned to crafting once I was unable to work anymore. Crafting has given me such a wonderful way to spend my time and has opened the door to meet some of the best men & women that I am lucky to now call my friends.
As my disease progressed, my husband and I made the difficult decision to sell our home and move into an apartment (one level and no stress). I was fearful that I wouldn’t have a space to call my own; to have ‘that spot’, where for a while, can help make things better and brighter. We found a place with a den, and when we first walked in, it was like the sun broke free from behind clouds. This room was PERFECT!!!
It had tons of natural light, it was cozy, and it had a walk-in closet with built in shelving; I was in heaven! Luckily the rest of the apartment was great and we snatched it up. I was very ill when we made the move. My crafty space was the first room that friends helped me put together (just after the kitchen). I love this space. I love the warmth and brightness it holds. It makes a crazy world not seem so crazy.

I’m severely disabled with a progressive illness, and crafting has been such a huge part of my life especially the sicker I get. My space is very different as I often have to craft in bed, but I feel so blessed to have been given a glimpse into your space. thank you!
