Hand Lettering on a Scrapbook Layout

Hi everyone! It’s Kelly Klapstein here, and I have some special news for you….I made a couple of scrapbook pages! Since I started calligraphy, my scrapbooking has taken a backseat and I haven’t designed a layout in FOREVER. I tell you, it felt really good to be playing with paper again! For both layouts, I used the Vicki Boutin collection from American Crafts and my Deluxe Lettering kit. This kit is perfect for hand lettering projects because you have every tool you need: ruler, pencil, eraser, fineliners, black brush pens (fine, med, bold) and 3 colour large brush tip pens. There are a few simple steps to follow when adding your own lettering to your layouts. 1. Think of a title and write it out in different ways on scrap paper with a pencil. 2. Today we are looking back to the Fall 2015 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine in our weekly feature #RememberingChristy. A timeless layout designed by Christy Riopel with a gentle reminder to Cherish the Little Things. This layout was featured in Christy’s regular column called “Tool Junkie”. Using Your Dies To Make A Stencil 1. Cut a piece of cardstock that is larger than your die. The more border around your die the better. Cut the die out of the centre of the cardstock. 2. On a palette, mix a little embossing paste and some acrylic paint. With a palette knife, scrape the tinted paste over the stencil. 3. Lift your cut stencil and let the paste dry, or dry with a heat tool. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone. Wild Whimsy Collection by Wild Whisper Designs

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Katelyn Grosart here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog to share with you my Summer themed project. Although we have just officially started the start of Spring, I’m definitely ready for Summer to arrive. Forever Love Scrapbook Layout – with Penelope Dee papers and Elizabeth Craft Design dies

Hello, Connie Nichol here with a romantic layout just in time for Valentine’s Day. I was cleaning up my craft room when I came across this photograph of my parents from about 28 years ago – they look so young and so happy. This layout came together very quickly. I had a few pieces of patterned paper on my desk from a South African company called Penelope Dee. I saw their products for the first time at Creativation last month in Phoenix and the designs are simply gorgeous. This patterned paper was SO perfect for this photo and then I saw a scrapbook sketch designed by Laura Whitaker on Facebook. Isn’t this a great sketch? This is my first time creating a layout on the blog, normally I do cards. Today I wanted to share some of my mixed media tips using products from Art Anthology. I am fortunate to be a member of their design team for this term and I wanted to share some tips with you. I am also blending in stamps and dies along with some border dies from Heartfelt Creations. One of the things I love about the stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations is how versatile they are and you can use the flower dies on any project. Playing with Tombow Dual Brush Pens

Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Today I am having some SERIOUS fun with my Tombow Dual Brush pens! While I was in Barcelona last spring we toured many of Antoni Guadi’s buildings. I completely fell in love with Guadi’s work, especially his tiles and stain glass. They inspired many pages in my art journal and this layout. When I got home I knew I had to try a scrapbook page with the technique. I used watercolour paper as my base, a good mixed media paper would work well too. I taped the paper to my surface with washi tape to keep any wild paint spots from migrating too far off the page.
