Hi there, Connie Nichol here with my interpretation of the January sketch in Creative Scrapbooker’s  Sketchy Challenge. Here’s the sketch.  As you can see,  I used it as starting point, but sort of flipped it and changed the circles to other embellishments.  Sketches make the whole scrapbooking process much faster for me. I used Close to My Heart’s Urban Paper Packet and Complements for the project.  This is great boy line – very masculine colours and patterns.  The Complements are a variety of stickers and chipboard die cuts to embellish the page. To add a little more fun, I took a wet paint brush and flicked a little blue watercolour paint on the background page.   There is already some blue droplets on this particular patterned paper, which gave me the idea to add more!  At the end, most of it ended up being covered with my photograph, but…

Happy New Years everyone – Cathy Caines here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Tomorrow is a big day for Stampin’ Up! as we are launching the new Occasions Catalog. This 50-page catalog supplements the annual catalog that is released every year in June. I can’t wait to show you the beautiful products! I’ve been playing with the new Rose Wonder thinlets, as well as the Large Number Framelits along with the coordinating stamp set. In the card above you’ll notice the beautiful serif numbers. The stamp set has a watercolour feel, as well as a lovely banner. Check out the mini balloons – oh yes, there are a couple balloon punches in this catalog! Typically when I finally decide to pull out my big shot (I am a lazy scrapbooker), it means that I am going to do more than…

Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout I created using the November sketch from the Canadian Scrapbooker sketchy challenge  and some of the new Creative Memories products.    A couple of years ago I participated in a hummingbird photography workshop in British Columbia.   It was an absolutely amazing experience and I have enough hummingbird photographs to last me several lifetimes. I used patterned paper from the Creative Memories ‘Brights’ designer paper pack and the Bubbles Border Maker to dress up my paper edges a little bit.  The Creative Memories Border Maker System is very unique – you slide your paper into a positioning guide where it is firmly held by a magnet and then you move a punch cartridge stepwise down the paper edge.  The cartridges are interchangeable so you can easily swap out different cartridges for different borders. To make my picture pop, I used dimensional foam adhesive…

Happy Tuesday Canadian Scrapbookers! Welcome to my blog post showing a little of what is on my scrap table. I picked up some papers and stickers from the Simple Stories fall collection called ‘Pumpkin Spice’  When I picked them up, it hadn’t snowed yet, and I was feeling the urge to scrapbook some of my fall pictures. Here is what I came up with:    Thankful for Sunsets SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Simple Stories; Journaling Pen: Creative Memories   You Warm My Heart SUPPLIES:  Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Simple Stories; Embossing Powder, Mica Flakes: Stampendous; Chipboard: Southern Ridge Trading Co.; Trim: May Arts Can I just say how much I love not very good camera phone selfies with that sunburst? I take an embarrassing number of them, but I feel like the day is just shining down on me! Maybe one day I will make a layout with a…

Today on our blog, we welcome Alana de Fortier, a scrapbooker from Calgary who is sharing some fabulous layouts with us. Good day readers of Canadian Scrapbooker. My name is Alana de Fortier. First and foremost I want to thank Canadian Scrapbooker for the invitation to do a guest post on this blog. It is a great honor to be here today. I was born and raised in South Africa. Art and crafts have always been my favourite pastimes. Scrapbooking became part of my life in 2005. I was hooked and mesmerized by the whole concept, what a grand idea to tell the stories behind the photographs! Of course I was a few years behind the trend, but hey, who keeps score? Supplies were few and far between in the small coastal town of Shelly Beach where I lived at that stage, and hence “Scrap a Story” was born. A…

A big big thank you and shout out to Michelle Marks who attended the retreat and invited everyone to join in the fun, taking photos of the layouts and emailing them to us.  We love you Michelle! Here is the October sketch: WOW! Aren’t these layouts fabulous? Thank you so much everyone for participating in our Sketchy Challenge! We hope to see all of your layouts in our Sketchy Gallery…click HERE to head over there and be inspired!

Happy Tuesday everyone! I am wrapping my head around the fact that fall is upon us and summer 2015 is in the books. As always, we hit the ground running at the beginning of September with the start up of all our activities. With summer fading fast, I really enjoyed pulling out a few favourite summer memories and getting them onto scrapbook paper! I hope you enjoy them too. The first is a layout I created using a photo from summer 2014. I love the look of uncertain amazement on my daughter’s face as she realized that the dragonfly actually came to rest on her outstretched finger! It was a perfect symbol of hope and light for her as she wrestled with feelings of unsettledness about our impending move. Supplies Used: Patterned Paper, stickers: Kaisercraft; Punches: Creative Memories, Stampin’ Up!; Letters: American Crafts; Die Cuts: Heidi Swapp; Acrylic Shape: Harmonie…
