Hello everyone! Kelly Klapstein here to share my take on the January sketch Challenge. Our family spent a wonderful 3 days of the Christmas break in Jasper, so I snapped lots of photos and wanted to scrapbook them.Β  I love this shot of my son and his girlfriend, hockey sticks in hand, skating on the outdoor lake with the mountains in the background. I used the new BoBunny winter collection “White Out.” It is such an awesome collection for any winter layout! The collection comes with papers, stickers, ephemera, die cuts, buttons, etc. all matching to make designing the layout really easy. For my title, I hand lettered the word “Frozen” with a Tombow Dual Brush pen and then scanned it and cut it out with my Brother ScanNCut machine. I also designed this cute snowflake heartΒ  with the Brother ScanNCut and cut it out from Canadian Scrapbooker SuperStock.…

Hello everyone!Β  Kelly Klapstein here to share my layout based on the November Sketchy challenge. Here is the November sketch: This Fall has been so beautiful in Alberta, and I snapped so many photos of the amazing golden colours of trees.Β  I just had to scrap them! The paper collection and leaf die cuts are from Momenta. I used my Sizzix Big Shot to die cut and emboss these pretty leaves. I used Tombow Dual Brush pens to hand letter the title “The Golden Hours” and write the journaling. I also used the Tombow pens to create a watercolour effect on the background, which is Canadian Scrapbooker Superstock. Click HERE to shop for this awesome cardstock…which is super heavy weight and great for all projects. I used some Stampin’ Up! stamps and Clearsnap ColorBox Frost WhiteΒ pigment ink to add a distressed effect to the outer edges of the paper. My…

I’m getting all caught up with my Sketchy Challenges…it feels good! I love working with sketches, it takes the toughest part of scrapbooking out of the picture-the design! Once that part is dealt with the creative juices can flow. Here is our September Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein, that was the starting point for my page. For this layout I wanted to play with my newly purchased Nuance Pigment Powders from Magenta. It was the first time I played with them after hearing about them through Christy Riopel at our Edmonton carnival. They are FUN to say the least and I look forward to using them more and learning other applications with them. I masked off three boxes and used the Nuance powders to colour them…I really should have used a small amount of Gesso on my cardstock, but I forgot…it’s a learning process! Had I used the Gesso my…

Today’s blog post is brought to you byΒ a group ofΒ wonderful scrapbookers from the East coast.Β  Several times a year, Deidre Edison Clarke organizes a crop retreat in Springdale, Newfoundland.Β  Last year they took on our Double the Fun sketch and last weekend, they worked their magic with the October Sketch. A big big thank you and shout out to Michelle Marks who attended the retreat and invited everyone to join in the fun, taking photos of the layouts and emailing them to us.Β  We love you Michelle! Here is the October sketch: WOW! Aren’t these layouts fabulous? Thank you so much everyone for participating in our Sketchy Challenge! We hope to see all of your layouts in our Sketchy Gallery…click HERE to head over there and be inspired!

Kim Gowdy here on the blog today, happily sharing my layout inspired by the August Sketchy Challenge. I have been struggling to find time in my craft room these past months…but stay focused to get ALL the sketches completed! The August sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein was very graphic. I swayed from that aspect of the design but otherwise kept pretty true to it. My layout is pretty simple using papers, stickers and ephemera from Fancy Pant’s “ME-OLOGY” collection. The paw print, cut behind the pictures, was done on my Cricut Explore using Close To My Heart’s Artistry cartridge. I also used Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L and the little wood veneer dogs were from Studio Calico. By the way; the topic of my layout…TRUE STORY! Go forth and scrapbookΒ withΒ our sketches. They are always available in our Sketchy Gallery. On time or late…we LOVE to see what you share.

Today on our blog we welcome Bev Code, a talented paper crafter who is going to share her wonderful designs that are all based on our September Sketchy Challenge. Hi, I am Bev Code, and I am super excited to be a Guest Designer on the Canadian Scrapbooker Blog. I was new to online scrapping since April 2009. There were so many amazing sites that were my learning curve to this amazing world of scrapbooking. I am a wife, mother and gramma that loves being retired and now have time to scrap to my heart’s content.Β I love scrapbooking along with fun things it entails like online friends, forums and Facebook. All these provide the knowledge and inspiration used when creating. The learning process has been interesting, and along the way I have been fortunate enough to join many design teams which feed my passion for the craft, and it allows…

Hello everyone! Β It’s Kelly Klapstein here today to share a layout I designed using the August Sketch and Creative Memories. Have you heard that Creative Memories has returned to the crafting industry? I know there are many of you who are thrilled about this news! I thought that their papers would be perfect to scrapbook some photos of icebergs I took while visiting Newfoundland in July. Β Thanks to my friend, Michelle Marks, we went “Iceberg Hunting” and found these beauties! Β I was in AWE. I used a couple of paper packs from Creative Memories: Neutral and Vintage. I thought the combination of blues and greys worked well for my iceberg themed page. I created the diamond pattern background layer with my Brother ScanNCut machine, cut it from watercolour paper, and then painted it in ombre blue shades with my Tombow Dual Brush Pens. If you Β haven’t tried these Tombow…

Today on our blog we welcome Michelle Marks, who is going to show you how she used our Sketchy Challenge to design cards! Happy Spring dear Canadian Scrapbooker readers…ummm…at least I’m hoping it’s spring somewhere in Canada by now because it sure hasn’t reached Nfld yet! Michelle here today from Corner Brook, Nfld. Apparently I’m supposed to tell you a little about me so here goes. I’m a 47 year old mom to two β€œalmost” grown kids, a daughter 21 years old and a son 19 years old. I am also spoiled wife to Rob, and this summer we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. Our home also houses a small zoo…one cat, one geriatric dog, two dwarf hamsters and some fish… plus a gazillion wild birds that empty my feeders faster than I can fill them. There’d be a lot more animals if my kids had their way but…
