#hellodecember Isn’t is sneaky how December creeps up on you like that? You think it’s so far away and then the first of December is here and you are already feeling like you have dropped the ball on finding matching family pajamas and getting photos in time for the Black Friday sales! Well, my friends – I am here to tell you that you are not alone. However, I am beginning to embrace the frantic. So, here I come December!! Away we go! As always, the holiday season means I am in my craft room creating projects from tags to cards to mini scrapbooks. Today’s project is a card along with a gift for a special someone. I created this card by starting out with the Wood Texture Paper Stack from Stampin’ Up! I am really enjoying the plaids and wooden elements in the décor aisles so I wanted to…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of projects that use recycled maps.   Maps and atlases are often  free  and are so much fun to add to paper crafting projects.  There is a whole article on this in the Winter 2018/2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine  – be sure to check out a bunch of other ideas using recycled maps.   Maps are particularly well suited to travel layouts – the layout below uses a map of Germany I got from the AMA for the page background.  I marked our route using embroidery thread and added a postcard and our entrance ticket to the castle.  I always save memorabilia when travelling. Supplies:  Paper House Productions Germany stickers, Simple Stories wood embellishments, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L photo corners and adhesive. Old maps also make great embellishments!  Here’s a card featuring map pinwheels. Supplies:  Stampin Up!  patterned paper, ink, cardstock, embossing folder…

Happy November Friends! How sweet are these little snowmen? It won’t be long before I am making snowmen in my backyard with my little ones. The Spirited Snowmen Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! is the perfect stamp set if you are looking to create a set of cards. It has a great combination of images and sentiments. But best of all… is that it’s simply super cute.  Stampin‘ Up! has a Snowflake Snowcase during the month of November and these Snowfall Thinlet Dies are part of this suite. It features 19 dies with snowflakes ranging from small to big; however, my favourite has to be the large size snowflake. How gorgeous is that?  These snowflakes are perfectly paired with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. This embossing folder gives the illusion of snow falling onto the ground. You can catch me using this snowflake and embossing folder combination throughout the whole…

This is one of my most favourite times of the year. The leaves are turning and there’s a chill in the air. But there’s something pretty special about the pumpkins and shorter nights. Maybe it’s the beautiful natural colour combinations. Or that the holiday season is around the corner. Perhaps it’s the idea of sipping hot drinks in your favourite sweater on your deck. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I know there’s something about this time of year that I love.Th e Stampin’ Up! Country Home Stamp Set was just released in the 2018 Holiday Catalogue and it simply gave me ‘all the feels’. So much so that I used this stamp set as the focal point in a card swap. A card swap? Yup. If you aren’t sure what that is, let me tell you. Sometimes in the world of cardmaking, a group of crafters…

Ok. Don’t get too upset with me. I know most of you aren’t ready to be thinking about candy canes or the Sugar Plum Fairy, not to mention the dreaded ‘s’ word.  (Shhh… it’s snow.) But Stampin’ Up! is releasing their Holiday Catalogue tomorrow. That’s September 5th. And well. I cannot help but share some of the cute items inside! Let’s start with this simple watercolour card showing off that beautiful deer. I mean. How gorgeous is that? You can create tags with this little guy alone. Stamp “To: and From:” on the back, add a little string and you’ve got yourself a holiday tag! You can find these die cuts and coordinating stamps from the Dashing Deer Bundle. The next two cards are a slightly stepped up version of the clean and simple card above; however, it includes pieces of patterned paper from the “you gotta see it, to believe…

Cathy Caines here on the blog today playing with the Stampin’ Up!  Little Elephant stamp set and coordinating punch. Call me crazy but I love a cute punch. Punches are easy. I don’t have to move much. Its fast. And it’s effective. So when a stamp set and a punch as cute as this gets released from Stampin’ Up!, it’s first on my list. Here I am introducing…. the Little Elephant Bundle. #socuteThis cutie was sitting in my craft room for almost a month before I took the plastic off. It was about time to get this stamp set dirty! When I first approached these projects using the Little Elephant stamp set and punch, I started with the stacking technique. It seems to be the thing to do with little critters and animals these days. And I can understand why… it’s easy and of course, ridiculously adorable. A quick hint…

She’s turning 8. It doesn’t surprise me. She acts 8. And I am excited to see what this year brings. But I just want to freeze time so that I never forget what 7 brought. That’s where mini books help. Hello everyone, Cathy Caines here today on the Creative Srapbooker Magazine blog. Today I am celebrating her turning 8. So let’s do this.  I never over think mini books. In order to start, I make some decisions about the cover. That was easy for me – Stampin’ Up!’s Share What You Love Designer Series Paper with the polka dots catches my eye every time I create a fun project. A bit of machine sewing around the edges gives the cover that finished look I am looking for. If you are eyeing the beautiful butterfly and floral die cuts on the cover, these are from a new Stampin’ Up! product called…
