Deck the Halls with Christmas Sweaters by Cathy Caines The holiday season is upon us and I am in full swing. I am so ready for the magic of Christmas and all the simple joys it brings as I enjoy the wonder of the season through the eyes of my children Jane (7) and Jack (5). I am wishing you and your families the very best this holiday season โ from my family to yours. About a month ago Stampinโ Up! released their new line of alcohol markers called Stampinโ Blends. Ever since the release, I have been coloring just about everything. However, the Stampinโ Up! Christmas Sweaters stamp set is by far my favourite. The markers seem to bring the sweaters to life. Before making any projects, I coloured several of the images while catching up on The Americans TV show. Once I found myself back in my craft room,…

Iโve been trying to get through my pictures and as a result my layouts are becoming more clean, simple and less time consuming. Thereโs very little time between meal times, soccer practices and school so I am learning very quickly not to agonize over the little details.ย In fact, itโs fair to say that my scrapbooking style is slowly evolving into cleaner more simple style. This layout is no different; however, I had multiple photos I wanted to include from this beautiful hiking adventure we took on the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, Canada.ย The only way I know how to solve that problem is to mix a traditional layout and pocket page layout. After selecting my photos, I realized that I didnโt need the full pocket page spread so I split it in half using my scissors.Starting with a 8.5 x 11โ white piece of cardstock I began to…
Hello Everyone – Cathy Caines here on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Itโs the time of year when we say goodbye to summer. But in my teens, it also meant that I was saying goodbye to my friends and family as I set off to begin another school year away from home. Itโs always hard to leave and for anyone going through their first year, itโs especially tough. If I am speaking to you โ you got this.ย Sure, youโll be poor and stressed out but everyone around you will be in the same boat.ย Tap into those around you and try hard to work on finding your true calling. The only way to do this is to think about what makes you happy. Good luck and always remember you can only do your best โ nobody expects anything more.About a month ago a lady called me and said that…

Hello everyone – Tracy McLennon here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog sharing this beautiful butterfly card I designed using some of my favourite products from Stampin’ Up!, Ranger, Chameleon Color Tone pens and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I used watercolour paper and Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Oxide Inks to create this rust like background. To do this you need a non stick craft mat. Stamp the ink directly onto the craft mat, spray with water and mix with your fingers. Then dip the paper into the ink/water mixture. Dry with a heat gun. Then do the same with the next colour of ink. Dry again with a heat gun. Do the same with the third colour of ink. You can continue this process until you get the coverage you desire.I stamped this beautiful Stampin’ Up! butterfly image on white cardstock using Early Espresso Stampin’ Up! dye ink.…
Coffee Helps by Cathy Caines โLife Happens. Coffee Helps.โ This bag of ย beans wasnโt always busted open. Oh no.ย Itโs wasnโt. I finished up my projects using the Stampinโ Up! Coffee Cafรฉ stamp set and co-ordinating Coffee Cups Framelits dieโฆ. โฆ I laid them on the dining counter ready to photograph the next day when the sun rose. And then I saw thisโฆARGH! My son Jack thought the beans were raisins and had been fiddling around to open the bag. Whatโs the strangest thing is that he doesnโt like raisins.ย He picks them out of the trail mix packages from Costco. But thatโs when I noticed the tag. โLife Happens. Coffee Helps.โ Exactly. This is it.ย Life happens. Coffee is important to me.ย I crave it. I drink it black and I like it super hot.ย I donโt re-heat because it never tastes right after that.ย I like to drink…
