The kids are back to school and Mama (thatβs me!) has been making getting into the craft room a priority. Iβve been slowly opening all my new stamp sets and products. Sometimes I just get organized or clean up and other times I get messy. Today I got messy with the brand new Blossoms in Bloom Bundle from the Stampinβ Up! Annual Catalogue. I purchased this bundle because I really felt that it could make beautiful cards fast. I wasnβt wrong. I began this project like many others as I die cut several pieces at once. It didnβt take long for me to notice that the die shape of the blossom outline was gorgeous on almost any background. Itβs the star of the show for both my cards! I used the purple posy ink on whisper white cardstock similar to how the products were intended to be paired together. I…
Well, what a weird summer it has been. While most weddings this year have been rescheduled or postponed around the world, here in Newfoundland there are some scattered lovebirds tying the knot. Itβs so nice to try to get back to some normalcy. I think we can all agree, itβs great for the soul to have a reason to celebrate. Throughout the past few months, Iβve been stamping images and watercolouring while watching TV with my husband. The Bloom and Grow Polymer Stamp by Stampinβ Up! is one of my favourites. I absolutely love the font pairings on this stamp set! This card begins with a sponged blue background. I like having a blue background on most of my cards to help anchor any images.Β I use a simple technique of sponging onto a white card base with the retired Stampinβ Up! Tempting Turquoise ink. Since I do this so…
Wow, I canβt believe that August is upon us. 2020 has certainly been a wild ride especially in our household with a new baby. Claire is now six months old and we are resuming some of our pre-COVID activities. Iβve also started getting into a better habit of making time for me in the craft room. When the Stampinβ Up! 2020-2021 new annual catalogue was released in June, I ordered some new 12×12 Rainbow Glimmer Paper. I meanβ¦ I am obsessed. But itβs the type of product that I would tend to βhoardβ. Almost like it was too precious to cut up! Not today. Well okay. Just the one sheet. But I did it. I cut it up! I knew that this paper was going to be the star of the show but to help bring it to life I paired it with an image from the Zany Zebras stamp…
Hey everyone! Cathy Caines here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog! I had so much fun putting this project together for you this month. I was completely inspired by the new Stampinβ Up! Game On stamp set. My family are βgamersβ so I knew that this stamp set was going to be a huge hit in my world. While none of us play chest anymore, I couldnβt help but create with the chest pieces first. It was very evident to me that the background of this card should resemble a game board. The Stampinβ Up! Stitched Shapes framelits has a one-inch square that brings this idea to life. We do play Yahtzee and Monopoly, and well, many games with dice. It could work for any age group. I often struggle with using black in my cards are a dominant colour but the Bricks and Mortar 3D embossing folder made…
Itβs finally here! Itβs the sun! Yes! But also, Stampinβ Up! has released their new annual catalogue. This means that you will get to be inspired by new products and projects. To view and download a digital copy of the catalogue CLICK HERE! I am here to show you one of my favourite paper lines from the new catalogue called In Good Taste. This 24-page paper pack is filled with 12×12 patterns and prints that will co-ordinate with all your projects. Check it out! To create this scrapbook page, I began by flipping through the patterned paper pages. This time I looked for a couple contrasting patterns that complimented each other. Once I selected my two I decided to use the darker page as the background. I am a simple scrapbooker. I absolutely love repeating shapes and clean lines. Because I scrapbook in 8.5×11β, I cut the gray page at…
As we move closer to Motherβs Day and longer into this pandemic, I am starting to miss the physical connections I have with other humans. Motherβs Day will especially be hard as I traditionally celebrate so many beautiful women in my life in person. What I wouldnβt do right now for some hugs with my own mother, my βpersonβ. For now, I will be building that love bigger and bigger until we embrace it again. βIf flowers were hugs, Iβd send you thousand.β Those words from the Abstract Impressions stamp set by Stampinβ Up! spoke to me. They seemed to be exactly what I wanted to say. And not just to my mother but to so many of my family and friends. Typically, I am not a big hugger but after this pandemic, you can be certain that Iβll turn into a regular βhug-o-monsterβ. Look out world because Iβll be…
I just donβt even know what to say. The world took a one-eighty and I am okay one day and not okay the next. Mental wellness is high on the priority list. For me, that means using scrapbooking as a tool to stay positive. Using words to keep some control in a society where I have no control. When I create, I can find happiness. And right now, itβs more important than ever. Today I am sharing the words and the page that I documented to help me move through my feelings. βWe made it to April. We are more than two weeks in. It still feels unbelievable. It still feels scary. But we keep trying to focus on the good. Thereβs so much good. And the sun will come out again.Β Β Β Β My anxieties and worries are slowly reducing every day. There are still financial worries but largely…
Itβs been 5 weeks since the birth of my third child, Claire. Itβs about this stage when you are craving some of your old routines. For me, thatβs crafting. It can be incredibly hard to find that inspiration and get back into your creative self especially with limited time. Itβs always nice to be pushed by challenges or to be inspired by someone elseβs work. Keeping it simple has always been a great way for me to get my juices flowing. For this monthβs project, I have used the By the Dock Bundle by Stampinβ Up!. You can find this bundle in their Occasions Catalogue. Living on the East Coast of Canada means that I am always pulled towards anything nautical so this stamp set and coordinating framelits are a must-have item. The first step I did was to water colour several images from this stamp set. This time I…
Well hello, Crafters! Itβs that time of year when I try to get ahead of the holiday season. Iβve got my tree up and my house is decorated, my lengthy shopping list is dwindling thanks to some early-bird holiday sales, and I have my planner scheduled with events to make sure I visit all those I care about. But Iβve got a great reason to get things done early this year so I best try a little harder this year. I am expecting baby number 3 in late January! With most of my family taken care of, next on my list is teacher Christmas gifts. Typically, I give them a gift card along with one of my favourite things to keep things a little more personal (I gave them my favourite mascara last year). Teacher cards can often be difficult to find. As a card maker, itβs a style that…
This is my six-year-old son Jack. He absolutely loves dinosaurs. So, when we went on vacation to Florida a couple of weeks ago we were sure to check out Dinosaur World. Dinosaur World did not disappoint. It was clean and quiet. It had a perfect balance of something for the tiniest littles to the adults. And letβs get serious here β dinosaurs are cool no matter what your age. So, when Stampinβ Up! released the Dinoroar Product Suite, it was a must-buy for me. I just didnβt realize it was going to come in handy so quickly. Like a handful of others, Stampinβ Up! has made life easy for you by having sweet images on their Dinoroar Designer Series Paper that can be cut out using their Dino Days framelits rather than only the stamps. This bundle has been a favourite of mine hands down. I mean, I canβt see…
