Hello and happy May! Kim here with a colourful layout share today using products a from Simple Stories, Impression Obsession, Clearsnap and Glue Dots! I have been emptying my craft room as we are doing some renovations once again on our home. During the tedious job of moving all my craft supplies I came across two photos from our Crop & Cruise vacation from over 10 years ago. This was actually the first time I met team Creative Scrapbooker and have grown some wonderful friendships from this holiday. I wanted my layout to be happy and summery, but needed a simple background as the pictures themselves were β€œbusy”! I opted to build my layout on a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Superstock. I pulled out my Simple Stories’ Hello Summer collection. The colours worked perfectly and the embellishments fit the theme of my photos. I first stamped the background with a…

Hello everyone! Kim here, happy to be on the Creative Scrapbooker blog again. Have you seen the β€œFOILED AGAIN” article in the spring issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine? It’s so awesome and so on trend! Foils are everywhere in the scrapbooking industry right now and so many ways to get the look. You can buy papers that are foiled, you can mimic the look with metallic embossing powders, there are lots of foiled stickers available and of course you can buy many products that use foil sheets. My project was inspired by this feature article from the magazine. I love to add foil finishes to my projects with Therm-O-Web products. They have so many options for you to control the foiled look of your project, from toner sheets, adhesives, pens and transfer gels…and crazy amounts of foil colours to choose from! My layout has a mixed media vibe to it,…

Hey everyone, Kim here! I’m sharing a simple layout today celebrating some of the yummy foods we enjoyed during a recent trip to Kauai. The layout itself is very basic, starting with a grid of four photos, offset to the right. I adhered my photo grid on top of two cardstock papers from some older Momenta stacks that I had from last year. The fun starts when I look for embellishments to add interest! Momenta has some wonderful dies. I was lucky enough to have three sets that played really well together and YES, one was the Christmas wreath! I easily cut the words out of the center and it was the perfect size to layer with my pineapple and flower die cuts! The β€œKAUAI” title was cut using the alpha dies, I love the font and size! All of the dies were cut from Brea Reese Mixed Media paper.…

Today I’m sharing my layout, inspired by our March Sketchy Challenge. Sketches are always a great place to start your creative process…it’s almost like oil for Β the cogs of your creative brain.I like to flip and rotate sketches to see all the different ways I can play with it. As you see by my finished layout I opted to rotate counter clockwise. My large block became two photos to fill a similar space and my two small squares became a 4×6 photo with a small inset photo. Let your brain work with the spaces of the sketch but be open to mix it up! You’ll be amazed at how many ways one sketch can unfold differently on several layouts! Here are some of the supplies I pulled out to work with! I chose to play with theΒ  Creative Memories Secret Garden collection including their paper and stickers. This collection is…

Good Morning and WELCOME March! It sure doesn’t feel like spring is around the corner but we have turned the page on February and that’s enough for me! Head’s up…today’s project share is not very spring like either!Β I choose to work with our January Sketchy Challenge and some fun products I have in my stash, old & new! If you prefer to share on Facebook, we have a Sketchy Challenge Group you are welcome to join! I stayed pretty true to the sketch, with the diagonal stack of photos and snowflake embellishments, then I let intuition guide the placement of my title and other embellishments. Carta Bella’s β€œLet it Snow” collection was perfect for my snowy pictures. I used the papers to mat my layout and pictures. They add the perfect amount of contrast and interest to my white Bazzill cardstock base. The Carta Bella stickers, chipboard and enamel dots…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here with a quick mixed media page share. Did you know our current issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine has a 13 page feature dedicated to mixed media! There are so many gorgeous art journal pages, scrapbooking layouts and cards ready to inspire you to pull out some products that might not be in your comfort zone. I encourage you to try, it’s so fun! Here is a recent art journal page I made using many of my favourite Ranger products. They are often my go to mixed media products because they overlap well with my love of scrapbooking and cardmaking! My page started out as gel print I had made a while back using my Ranger Gel Plate and Dylusions paints. I layered on some stencils and stamps, which were coloured with Chameleon Pens. I added some washi tape and stickles for some more texture and…

Hello and Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share using Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s December Sketchy Challenge. December’s wreath sketch was once again designed by the talented Kerry Engel and easily spoke to our holiday brains as a backdrop to holiday pictures. My brain quickly went to winter, Christmas, green, red and gold when I initially saw the design…that’s when my hand went up and said NO! I like to challenge the sketches by thinking outside of my gut feelings. I had all kinds of winter themed product on my desk and couldn’t get my brain away from a Christmas wreath vision, so I cleared it ALL off my table and pulled out the first collection of paper I had that was NOT Christmas. It just happened to be Simple Stories’ Forever Fall collection. First off, I LOVE autumn and I LOVE autumn colours. My brain started chugging…

Hello again! Kim here with a quick layout share using some of the gorgeous papers from Paper House Productions’ Sun Drenched paper pad! This collection is full of beautiful colours and patterns…perfect for beach days of summer or winter holidays!I used this month’s Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for my layout, our sketches are always a great source of inspiration! Once I chose the papers to work with I alter my page a bit with some stencilling using Ranger’s Distress Oxide ink and a stencil from MultiCraft. I used a couple of the 4×6 accent cards from the paper pad to layer with my photos, I love how they kind of become an extension of my photos in colour and pattern! I used a bit of Distress Oxide Ink on the paper edges to bring the focus in towards the pics! I added some Forever in Time Puffy Letter…

OMGosh! I am late getting to our Sketchy Challenge this month, but have some fun products to share! I feel the change of seasons in my bones and am already missing lost daylight hours! Thankfully autumn comes with crisp, sunny days that allow us to enjoy the colours of the season. Autumn colour ALWAYS puts a smile on my face! That being said, I used this month’s sketch to celebrate Autumn! I was really pleased with the end result, though it took some messing around to figure out where it was going! I’m really happy with the products I decided to work with, they complement each other well! Echo Park Paper Co.’s Celebrate Autumn collection was used for the paper components of my layout! The colours, patterns, and words worked well with my end vision! Some β€œquiet” color was added to the white CSM Super StockΒ with the designer stencil and…

Do you ever find yourself playing with product, not knowing what will come of it and finish with a fun project! This was the case with this coffee card! I started by playing with some Ranger Distress Oxide Inks, masking off the outside border. Once the colours were placed I used this fun Pam Bray stamp from Emerald Creek to stamp over the coloured centre. Next I masked away the centre, so that I could use the same stamp around the border! Fun & simple! This was the perfect background for a fun, chipboard coffee cup from Southern Ridge Trading Company. The chipboard piece was embossed with Emerald Creek’s Just Java Aroma Embossing Powder – smells as good as it looks! I outlined the words of the chipboard cup with a RangerΒ Β Dylusions’ paint pen and added some β€˜steam’ with a Distress Marker. Coffee cheers to you!
