8 1/2 X 11 Scrapbook Layouts

Fall is here. I am not sure why but I love to feel the crisp air and see the harvest wreathes on the doors in our neighbourhood. Perhaps it represents some new beginnings or maybe it’s because there can never be too many pumpkins. It’s a time of year that I find refreshing. Like many families, we have a tradition to visit our local pumpkin patch for some photos sitting on haystacks surrounded by orange “balls” as my one year old exclaims this year! Today’s layout was inspired by Traci Reed Design’s (TRD) free digital cut file, Stacked Pumpkins. I’ve recently moved my Silhouette die cutting machine from under my desk to the top. This made it easy to download and have it cut out when inspiration hit. It couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for these photos. Using the digital patterned papers by Traci Reed called Hocus Pocus,…

In September, the most perfect wild blueberries can be seen in the barrens and rocks around the coastlines of Newfoundland. Since I was a kid I remember collecting buckets of them. We would have our bellies full by the end of the forage. Later we’d make blueberry crisp or blueberry muffins and at Nan’s house we’d have blueberries mixed with sugar and carnation milk for a treat before we’d head to bed. Looking back, I don’t know where the years have gone. Those are such fond memories. I haven’t gone out blueberry picking in years. Then one day last month, my father called and asked me to go with him on a whim. I made the time despite my calendar being blocked. I had to arrange baby sitters and carpools but I made it happen with my daughter, Jane and my niece, Sawyer. I said ‘yes’. It took four stops…

Lately I have become a little obsessed with printing oversized photos and including those in my albums. I simply haven’t been crafting as frequently as I’d like to and began “batch printing”. I decided that I wanted the photos printed. If I had the photos printed, then sometimes the stories are already told.  As I declutter and cull my digital photos each month, I am sending a batch of photos to my local printing shop, Newfoundland Canvas. However, because I am currently printing in advance, I was picking out a couple of my favourites from each month and blowing them up to 8×11”. Practically every other photo is printed in 3×4 so that the option of plopping photos in a “wham, bam, thank you ma’am” style pocket page is there. I will tell you though that I typically print from home, in fact, the two 8.5×11” photos you see in…

Happy August! Every month I receive the Ali Edwards ‘Story’ kit and also the ‘Stories By the Month’ kit. I have been a subscriber since day one and they continue to be my favourite product to reach for. Because I haven’t been as creative as I like over the past year, I have several kits unopened. Yikes. This month, I opted to grab a kit in order to absolutely crush it. Boom. I did not crush it. Insert sad face. However, the cork letters were used as a jumping off point. I finished not one but two layouts as a result. And that, my friends, is what I am calling a win. The words reminded me of a couple sets of photos. Next thing I knew it, I managed to have two layouts going at the same time. With the Pink Paislee Bloom Street embellishment pack and papers in hand,…

It’s taken me a little while to capture the memories since I gave birth to my third baby at the beginning of January of last year. Slow and steady I’ve been able to get back to my craft room. It’s not often that you see a layout from me with so many busy colours but I am in love with the richness of these blues by Vicky Boutin in this 6×8” paper pack. I selected two pieces and trimmed them down to create this 8 x 10.5” page. These two boys are explorers and adventurers around our home. Most days they come back to grab a popsicle and off they go again. The Wander embellishments worked perfectly with the story. When that happens, you shouldn’t have to think too hard. After a little while I had placed a few key stickers around the photo. The little word strips in the…

These are the moments I want to remember. This is what it’s all about. How lucky am I to be staying at Grandma’s house and playing cards every night? At 84 years young my grandparents are living on their own 8 hours away from our family. They contribute to their community and go back and forth to their cabin. It’s amazing and I am so grateful for their health.  So, when visiting Grandma’s house, I can’t help but feel like I want to freeze time. In some way, memory keeping does just that – allows me to just freeze time. To document this memory, I printed the photo in black and white. It just felt right. Using the Stampin’ Up! Hand Penned Designer Series Paper, I cut two squares and halved them into triangles in order to anchor to photo. The Blossoms in Bloom die cut was a perfect backing…

Hello! Kim here with my layout share inspired by the January Sketchy Challenge! I LOVE when I complete the sketchy challenge in the same month it was posted…it feels like a little win! My husband and I were eating a meal that we ordered for curbside pickup and the bag everything was packaged in screamed to be recycled! My BIG title was actually cut from my bag ~ how fun is that? The rest was easy! I use Lightroom Mobile on my phone and iPad and let it do a task it does well…I searched for “food” photos! Once I picked the photos to use, I created a collage in the Project Life app, which made it easy to print! Diptic is another app I use for this task! I love my new Tonic Studios’ Guillotine cutter – it cut my little prints perfectly! It’s the perfect size for card…

Hi Friends! If you are like me, crafting is more than a hobby. Crafting is helping me get through this pandemic. Specifically scrapbooking typically helps me zone in on the happy memories. Today’s page shows my daughter and her two friends going to their first dance. At the time I was more excited about it than the girls as I was nostalgic thinking about when I was a tween. It didn’t go exactly as planned – and for that reason, I laughed out loud creating the page. And that. That was just what I needed at that moment. This project began with the Stampin’ Up! In Good Taste 12×12 patterned paper. I am drawn to this paper. It’s super versatile for both memory keeping and card making. Because I am trying to close out my November 2019 scrapbook album, I knew what photos to use. I then began to write…

It’s finally here! It’s the sun! Yes! But also, Stampin’ Up! has released their new annual catalogue. This means that you will get to be inspired by new products and projects. To view and download a digital copy of the catalogue CLICK HERE! I am here to show you one of my favourite paper lines from the new catalogue called In Good Taste. This 24-page paper pack is filled with 12×12 patterns and prints that will co-ordinate with all your projects. Check it out! To create this scrapbook page, I began by flipping through the patterned paper pages. This time I looked for a couple contrasting patterns that complimented each other. Once I selected my two I decided to use the darker page as the background. I am a simple scrapbooker. I absolutely love repeating shapes and clean lines. Because I scrapbook in 8.5×11”, I cut the gray page at…

A BIG hello from Kim! Just popping in to share a quick look at some inky fun I was having, that will get added to a card base to send off to a friend! I recently got this new Picket Fence stamp set: Beauty & Song . I love all the details and look forward to using it lots more. It’s a big stamp, so you could easily use the entire image of parts of it. For this project, I stamped the sentiment on a piece of computer paper, cut around it and added some repositional adhesive to the back. Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L makes a great adhesive with the perfect amount of tack, that is easily removed when needed. I positioned the sentiment to mask the area where it would eventually be permanently stamped. I stamped my main image over the mask using a stamp positioner. Using my Life…
