This year I am trying something a little different. From all my reading I have learned that the key to being successful at any goal is to be specific and reasonable with your goals. So this year I am resolving to make one page a month from a photo I took recently. I think one page a month is a reasonable and attainable goal. This page is the first of my pages. Hi there, Connie Nichol here today with a layout I created for the Quietfire Design blog using one of their new Christmas stamps and a number of Elizabeth Craft Designs dies. Elizabeth Craft Designs has a number of dies in their ‘Way with Words” collection that were designed by Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design. They make the most beautiful scrapbook page titles and they cut cardstock like butter. I cut a number of branches with the berry branch die to tuck under the stamped quote and then I dressed up the ‘berries’ with White Opal Liquid Pearls by Ranger. Such an easy way to add some dimension. A dot here, a dot there. And a huge selection of colours to choose from. Creating Watercolour Effects with Spectrum Aqua markers distributing by Canuck Crafts by Christy Riopel I love this quick layout that I put together. I used Spectrum Aqua Markers and Watercolour Cardstock, Clearsnap SurfaceZ Ink, Magenta stamps and Stencils. Using the Magenta stencil draw lines inside the openings of the stencil. Spray with water and lift off the stencil. This works so well because the Spectrum Aquas are a waterbased marker. I also used the markers on the edges of my photo matte I added these beautiful Magenta flower stamps using a permanent ink like Clearsnap SurfaceZ ink so that I can spray water over the top after I have coloured them in. It’s amazing how a little water can turn these markers into works of art. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Hi Everyone! It’s Kelly Klapstein here today to share my layout based on the September Sketchy Challenge. Here is my sketch: I used the gorgeous Kaisercraft collection “Botanica.” Actually, these products were in my September kit from ScrapShotz. With this Kaisercraft stamp set and “Avocado” ink, I added a subtle pattern of leaves to the solid green paper layers. When you stamp several times or ‘values’ without reloading with ink, you can create your own patterned paper (learned from the great ink queen herself, Cathie Allan!) The leaves are cut with my Brother ScanNCut machine After cutting them from mixed media paper, I watercoloured them with my Tombow Dual Brush Pens. Hi all, I look at this picture and I see my daughter’s energy explode off the paper. I see fun. I see beauty. I see youth. Most certainly, I see happy. And that was the inspiration for my layout this month. I started out with a 12×12 sheet of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Paper by Stampin’ Up! It has a glossy resist pattern that I thought could be fun. (Side note: This is one of the exclusive Sale-a-bration products that can be yours with a $60 order) In my typical lazy style, I decided to “see what happen” I squeezed some refill ink over the paper. Yes, it did go through the paper because I didn’t want to apply a layer of gesso over top of the glossy resist… it certainly wasn’t my smartest idea. Just a quick share for you today. I have been working with Sue’s February Sketchy Challenge and stayed fairly true to the design, but always try to add my own spin to them. The papers I used are from BoBunny’s “Souvenir Collection”, it has one sheet that is an entire alphabet; from that sheet I fussy cut the title “WINE”. I inked up a few stencils with Clearsnap Fluid Chalk inks and painted the Magenta Chipboard “gears” with Viva Décor Inka Gold paint. The uneven borders are hand drawn and Zentangled with a Sharpie marker. Be sure to share how you use the sketch in our gallery!

I am a scrapbooker, amateur photographer, wanna be art journaler (it’s a word – I looked it up) and an on-line learning junkie. I built my first scrapbook back in 1988 with photo corners, a black pen, a Hutchings and Patrick Scrapbook and probably rubber cement. I googled Hutchings and Patrick and they are now listed as vintage on Etsy. Gotta say, that kind of hurts.
