Hi everybody, Connie Nichol here! Today I was as a guest designer on the Quietfire Design blog. I have used and loved Quietfire Design stamps before, but this was the first chance I got to play with their digital design files and the new metal dies designed by Quietfire Designs and manufactured by Elizabeth Craft Designs. They are just gorgeous. There are quite a few digital cutting files available at Quietfire Designs and they are easily downloaded and used by any electronic cutting machine that can accept svg files. Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine is one issue away from turning 10 years old!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW time sure flies when you are having fun! Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today. I used the September sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge as a jumping off point for scrapbooking this childhood photo. I don’t have a lot of pictures from when I was a kid and virtually all of them are in 35 mm slide format, so I am slowly scanning, printing and scrapbooking them while my parents are still around to help me remember dates, places and people. The layout doesn’t resemble the sketch much, but that’s the beauty of working with scrapbook sketches. It’s a place to start. And then once started, page elements can get moved around, added to or eliminated. I have been working a lot lately with Close To My Heart products. Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today with a layout inspired by the July sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge. It was a great opportunity to play with some new Sizzix dies. The Bird Crazy Framelits shown below are designed to match the Stampers Anonymous cling mount Bird Crazy stamps and they cut right up to the stamped image. You can layer wings, beaks and eyes if you are so inclined, and have a lot of fun. These little birdies are the cutest things ever! I coloured in the stamped images with Chameleon pens. Love being able to get a variety of shades of colour from one pen. For the background of the page, I used a 6×6 pad of Core’dinations Kraft-Core cardstock and used another new Sizzix die to cut out some really cool designs. Hey everyone, Connie Nichol here today playing with Close To My Heart! I have to admit, although I’m not very good at the pocket page style of scrapbooking like Picture My Life or Project Life, I totally LOVE the 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 cards that are part of this scrapbooking concept. The cards make wonderful embellishments for regular styles of scrapbook pages and one can use them to make all sorts of greeting cards in a snap. Today I want to feature some simple cards and a layout that I created using the Hopscotch Collection from Close to My Heart. All of the projects feature the Picture My Life cards. I think that this collection was recently retired, but you could use these ideas to make cards and layouts from any one of the Picture My Life card packs. Simply layer them on top of each other,…

It’s not often you run into Marilyn Monroe (since it has been reported she died in 1962), but on a vacation in California, we were happy to see her sitting on a chair in Universal Studios Hollywood. My husband was thrilled to have a photo taken with her. The April Sketch from the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge was perfect for scrapbooking these pictures that I took with my phone. Rather than the circles shown in the sketch, I considered using stars but finally settled on diamonds, since don’t you know, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend. I cut the diamonds on Core’dinations Black Magic cardstock with my Sizzix Eclips2 electronic die cutting machine. The basic shapes that are supplied with this machine are so handy.
