Let’s just cut to the chase – 2020 WAS NUTS! Never in a million years did I ever imagine living through a pandemic. It was and still is super surreal. Life-changing. Lesson learning. Thought-provoking. Self-awareness. Are just a few words that come to mind when I reflect on 2020. I can’t stress enough how important it is to document your stories. Your photos. Your words. Your battles. Your victories. Your day to day during life with COVID.ย  Not sure where to start? The last few issues of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine are a great place to find inspiration to document this moment in time. Hey! Kim here with a quick layout share using the December Sketchy Challenge as my inspiration. ย  This is a sketch that took me awhile to warm up to. It wasnโ€™t until I started to rotate it and look at photos that I got a feel for how it might work for me. I challenge you to work through a sketch that you donโ€™t love, you may just be surprised with how much you like the end result! My layout uses the most basic of supplies. I almost always have Creative Scrapbooker Magazineโ€™s Super Stock somewhere on my layout! I LOVE the weight, smoothness and the beautiful, bright white of this cardstock. ย I used two types of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; White Permanent and Ultra permanent [I always find I need a stronger grip when I adhere anything to the textured side of Bazzil cardstock โ€“ used here as the…

Do you remember paper-tole from the 80โ€™s? It was a very fussy art form that involved layering identical prints to build a 3D pictures. I love to make dimensional cards and there is a quicker and easier way to get a suede-paper-tole look and not waste anything! How to make two 3-dimensional cards at once: leave one Therm O Web Deco Foil Toner Card Front intact. use a second Therm O Web Deco Foil Toner Card Front to cut out a large flower for a 3D flower. layer the remaining pieces of the second card to build a stunning 3D floral cluster. Foiling made easy: Therm O Web Deco Foil has partnered with Unity Stamp Co. to create an exclusive line of Toner Card Fronts. The Toner Card front is made for foiling. You can have a lot of fun changing up the foil colours but for this set, I…

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday! Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog playing with my Brother ScanNCut electronic cutting machine. Stickers, gotta love โ€˜em. They are the backbone of contemporary scrapbooking. They really deserve a shout-out for the role they play in helping us to tell our stories in our scrapbooks. Twenty-three years ago when I started scrapbooking it was all about adding stickers to your pages and they still play a pivotal role in my creative expressions. That said, stickers can do more than stick, they can be very versatile. I have a sticker hack for creating next-level stickers. Hereโ€™s how I create my own sturdier โ€˜cardstockโ€™ elements from stickers, to help me to create design clusters that really pop. To create this clustered tag I needed different weights of the various elements (ie. Stickers). I create my own โ€˜card stockโ€™ sticker elements with the Brother ScanNCut…

Hello everyone! Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Blog! Iโ€™ve been looking at stamps differently lately. I like to see if there are ways that I can deconstruct the different design elements so that I can cut it apart and create layers.ย  The Beauty and Song stamp by Picket Fence Studios is a stamp that has a lot of opportunities to go a bit crazy with layers. Hereโ€™s how I put this one together.ย  Step 1. Stamp the image on cardstock and use the Brother ScanNCut to precisely cut the stamped image from the cardstock. TIP: This stamp has some open ends. The Brother ScanNCut scans the outside edge and requires a black edge.ย  The opened-ended leaves on this stamp needed to be closed in. The Brother ScanNCut did an amazing job of cutting out this complex stamp. I was suitably impressed with how it cut perfectly…

Hello everyone – Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I had an afternoon of happy accidents recently when I was playing with Therm O Web Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets. I ended up creating a card and a scrapbook page. I started with my MultiCraft Forever in Time burlap. I wanted to see if I could add the Flock Transfer Sheets to MultiCraft Forever in Time burlap using the Therm O Web Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo. The Transfer Gel DUO works two ways; you can transfer flocking or foil using heat from a laminator OR pressure from a die-cutting machine. Transfer Gel DUO is a permanent transfer medium that dries clear and remains tacky for easy use. I spread the Transfer Gel DUO through stencils and laid a piece of the Flock Transfer Sheet on top and ran it through my die cut machine. A…
