Pinwheel Photo mats Β Β Materials: Magenta Paper, Stencils, and Stamps, Liquitex Gesso and Texture Medium, Beacon Adhesives 3in1, Oil Pastels, Ranger Gel Pen, Clearsnap ink Who says photo mats have to be square or flat? We have seen pinwheels used in scrapbooking for years. They are an inexpensive and fun way to embellish any page, but I thought it might be fun to use them as photo mats under this group of fun shots of my daughter being silly. Β To soften the edges of them I brushed them with a little gesso. Β To add more texture to this page I scraped a texture paste through a Magenta stencil and let it dry. I also punched circles out of the same paper as the pinwheels and brushed them with gesso. Instead of traditional journaling I let this fabulous Magenta stamp do all the talking for me. Β This Magenta…
Hello! Kim here to show you how to make some gorgeous watercolour style backgrounds for your stamped images. I will be using a Gel Printing Plate, Tombow markers, water and Canadian Scrapbooker Super Stock. The Canadian Scrapbooker Super Stock works best because it is so strong and can hold up to the amount of wet media used on this project. I am so NOT a video person, but thought it would be easier to show you this simple technique in video format. With the magic of my iPhoneβ¦here we go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq679RRuEQY&feature=youtu.be After making the backgrounds, let them dry completely, then they are ready for you to create with! I pulled out some of my favourite Magenta Stamps to make three different cards. For this style of card I love to use Versafine Onyx Black ink. It is a pigment ink that consistently produces crisp, stamped images. I coloured a few…
One of the best parts of going to a crop is getting to play with our friends’ supplies. Last March, on the first night of our weekend crop at Pigeon Lake, I spied this row ofΒ Aladine Izinks Pigment Ink distributed by Clearsnap. That night I dreamed aboutΒ ClearnspΒ Izinks all night. I literally dreamed about them. Dripping them actually! I was so excited to get my hands on the Izink pigment inks that I woke up before everyone else. I used Canadian Scrapbooker Super StockΒ (CSS) as my base, and as I wasn’t sure how the Izink would drip I used gesso on my second page. The first page was naked. Newport Beach layout: Izink on Naked CSS I’m not really sure what verb best describes the action required to place Izink on your page. It’s not really a drop. It’s a mashup of a plop and a dab… itβs…
Hoping for spring! Materials: Magenta Stamps and cork sticker, Liquitex Gel Medium, book paper, Clearsnap inks, Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir coloured pencils, Charcoal pencil IΒ did this little art journal page to give myself a little bit of spring. I donβt think I am the only person who is ready for birds singing and sun shining! I started by using matt gel medium to attach these images over my background. I really like colouring over the gel medium with these Spectrum Noir pencils. They are so smooth and silky and blend beautifully. Happy Spring! Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! Happy Β DAY AFTER St. Patrickβs Day!!!! To honor the 25% of my genetic makeup that is Irish, I decided to create a St. Patrickβs day layout for the blog. But because I am the curious sort, I had to find out why this day dedicated to leprechaun tricks and green beer even exists. Turns out St. Patrick was a 5th century fellow who had some rather interesting adventures! British by birth, he was captured by pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. Good fortune smiled on him, and he escaped 6 years later, after hearing voices tell him a ship was waiting to take him home. He became a cleric like his father and grandfather before him and returned to Ireland to minister to the people there. I guess they loved that because he was made a saint and he is celebrated with some solemnity there.…

A huge hello to everyone out there in the paper crafting world! I was absolutely delighted to be invited as a guest blogger, featuring Magenta Style products. A little about me: I live in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, a mom of 20 yr old twins (girl & boy), married for nearly 23 years, a Registered Nurse going on 29 years and yes, I am addicted to anything and everything in the paper crafting world! Iβve been crafty throughout my entire life in one way or another but was not introduced to scrapbooking until 2006. It took one home party to get me craving for more. Scrapbooking turned into card making which turned into mix media, home dΓ©cor, etc, etc. I am not a routine person, and I tend to get bored easily so paper crafting for me is the PERFECT right brain activity. The moment I find myself βboredβ I switch…
Just a quick share for you today. I have been working with Sue’s February Sketchy ChallengeΒ and stayed fairly true to the design, but always try to add my own spin to them. The papers I used are from BoBunny’s “Souvenir Collection”, it has one sheet that is an entire alphabet; from that sheet I fussy cut the title “WINE”. I inked up a few stencils with Clearsnap FluidΒ Chalk inks and painted the Magenta Chipboard “gears” with Viva DΓ©cor Inka Gold paint. The uneven borders are hand drawn and Zentangled with a Sharpie marker. Be sure to share how you use the sketch in our gallery!
