Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Today I am having some SERIOUS fun with my Tombow Dual Brush pens! While I was in Barcelona last spring we toured many of Antoni Guadi’s buildings. I completely fell in love with Guadi’s work, especially his tiles and stain glass. They inspired many pages in my art journal and this layout. When I got home I knew I had to try a scrapbook page with the technique. I used watercolour paper as my base, a good mixed media paper would work well too. I taped the paper to my surface with washi tape to keep any wild paint spots from migrating too far off the page. To create the tiles I drew random shapes with Tombow Dual Brush pens. My vision was to create a rainbow wave of colour. I started drawing the shapes in one corner of the…
We absolutely love it when MultiCraft asks our design team to take their Scrapbook Challenge! They send three of our design team members the exact same products, ask them to create a project, whether it is a card or art journal or scrapbook layout, the sky is the limit and we get to see the results! This time around I was able to take part and had an absolute blast playing with this collection of their awesome products. This collection included a a 6X6 pack of patterned paper, cardstock, stickers, charms, metallic pen, gems and adhesives all from the wonderful people over at MultiCraft. I absolutely love seeing the different takes. Nadine Wachter Nadine decided to create a beautiful 12X12 layout with some machine stitching. Nadine incorporated a number of 6X6 patterned papers on her layout, along with the chipboard, stickers, adhesives and metallic pen. I especially like how Nadine…
“Double double, toil & trouble”…. Tim Hortons? Shakespeare?… No, Creative Memories. Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog having double the fun with two layouts and Creative Memories Toil & Trouble Collection. Feeling Punchy The colors in this collection are rich and yummy; teal and orange are so fun for fall. The coordinating cardstock is perfect for punching out embellishments or to use as a base. Creative Memories has some fabulous punches, the pumpkin one just makes me grin. The footprint punch was probably made with beach layouts in mind but I punched out the foot prints on the bottom edge and then placed a black piece of paper behind the cut-out to create some creepy ghost like foot prints. Are you scared??? The fence and pumpkin punches layer nicely. How cute are teal pumpkins? To create more depth I inked all my edges in Ranger vintage photo…
Happy Monday everyone! Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Don’t you just love patterned paper with large life-like quality graphics on them? Full image graphic patterned papers, such as those from Paper House Productions are so stunning I am almost afraid to use them with my photographs. I find that I just want to put the paper with the beautiful graphic images, without anything on it, in my albums! They are so gorgegeous and at the same time can be intimidating! The Creative Scrapbooker Magazine team has fallen in love with the Delish Collection from Paper House Productions. A few weeks ago Tracy McLennon also created a layout featuring this gorgoues collection of patterned paper with LARGE graphical photo quality images on them – CLICK HERE to see Tracy’s creation. Here is what I created with a few different pieces of patterned papers from Paper House…
Hello everyone, Kerry Engel here on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog with some autumn inspiration for you from BoBunny and the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine October Sketchy Challenge. This month’s sketch gives you room to tell a great photo story; it has room for four photos! The off-kilt design shakes things up a bit, creating some fun energy. I love summer colours but it was so fun to play with the rusty burgundies in this BoBunny Dreams of Autumn collection, they are so rich and yummy: almost makes me excited that fall is here. Pretty much every fall photo I have looks great with this line. One of the cool features in this collection is the page with all the single elements. I fussy cut out several of the leaves and then got messy. The results were some realistic 3D embellishments. After I cut out the leaves I sprayed them with water and…

Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the blog having fun with the Canada 150 logo. Did you know that the super cute Canada 150 logo is available for you to download? There are so many imaginative ways for us to use it. A quick search on Pinterest revealed that quilters have taken up the challenge but I haven’t seen many paper crafters doing anything imaginative with this inspirational design. (Except of course, Tracy’s McLennon’s coloring page that’s available free on our website!) – CLICK HERE to get Tracy’s colouring page. The logo was created by Arian, Cuvin from Toronto, Ontario. According to the website “The logo is composed of a series of diamonds, or “celebratory gems”, arranged in the shape of the iconic maple leaf. The four diamonds at the base represent the four original provinces that formed Confederation in 1867: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Additional…

Hello everyone! Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog featuring some great products from Stabilo. Last month I did a Facebook Live on drawing layered circles with these three Stabilo products. CLICK HERE to see that live video. On the blog today I’m sharing a step by step of the technique, only this time we are making rectangles. I was inspired by the July Sketchy challenge too, the rectangle layout determined the arrangement on my card. The beauty of the Stabilo products is that you can coordinate your colors from the fibre-tipped pens to the Woody to the CarbOthello chalk pastel pencil. This card is basically small rectangle layers made with 3 different Stabilo products from the blue/green color family. Step ONE Prep card stock with gesso. Step TWO Draw shapes using the Stabilo Pen 68. These pens are water-soluble so they magically react with water. (Well, it’s…
Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. We had a lot of celebrating going on in my family this year. Our oldest daughter has graduated from the University of Alberta. Creative Memories Cap and Gown Collection provides a lot of inspiration for layouts and cards. This collection also has a coordinating album – which I love. Super quick and super easy. In this layout I used the Variety Mat Pack to create a faux pocket page. The only additional item I used was Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Creative Photo corners. I adhered stickers on cardstock and fussy cut out the stickers and mounted them on foam squares to create some dimension. You did it card I like the challenge of trying to create fun cards from Variety Mat Packs and stickers. I layered the 4×6 card on the 4.5×6.5 card and used stickers, Scrapbook Adhesives…
